    i love the music on nightmare before christmas and was wondering if anyone has ideas as the inspiration on the music comes from? i would like to buy cd’s with that style of music, the accordian, and stand up bass (very traditional style). any help would be welcomed, thanks.

    Well, there isn’t anything quite like the Nightmare Before Christmas. But there are some inspirations that led to Nightmare. There’s a little bit of Cab Calloway and Duke Ellington in the Oogie Boogie’s Song.

    There’s some Prokofiev and Stravinsky influence in the score’s orchestration, also.

    He said many times that Burton and him were looking for a Kurt Weill’s approach, especially “The Threepenny Opera”.

    Yes, I think you should definitely check out something from Kurt Weill, as suggested. You may find some similarities here and there.
