GuestHey, has anyone heard that “Ode To Clockwork Orange” by supposed Danny Elfman. I recently downloaded it using Kazaa. It’s a similar rendition of Beethoven done Wendy Carlos style. I’m wondering where this came from and if this is really Danny. And if it is… what other unreleased “Odes” are there if any etc.

GuestDon’t think so. He did incorperate some stuff from Clockwork Orange into “Insanity”, though. That’s what my dad tells me, I haven’t seen the movie myself yet.

GuestWhat you found is a rendition of Beethoven done by Wendy Carlos.
It’s probably another case where someone had the song but didn’t know who the artist was, so they just put in whoever they’ve heard of. Just like when it says Elfman did the theme for Futurama or John Williams did the theme to Batman.

GuestMy favorite is “Crimson Tide Theme by John Williams”.

GuestAnother great chestnut is The Legend of Zelda suite by John Williams and the Boston Pops.

GuestActually, he did do a version of that theme.

GuestWell, as charming as it would be to learn that Johnny Williams has composed Nintendo music, what you heard is an orchestral concert album that our friends in Japan put out which covers a bundle of games spanning across five alums.

GuestJohn Williams gets the credit for a lot of stuff on the internet. Why can’t people just look stuff up and change the file names is it that hard.

GuestWhat bothers me more than crediting the wrong composers for music is people making up names for the tracks themselves. For example, “______ Theme” instead of whatever the actual cue title was. I mean . . . how many movies just have one theme? And use them over and over and over and over?? It reminds me of last year when my high school’s marching band played for this event while a local weather channel did the weather . . . it sounds weird, but it makes sense. Anyway, the idiotic weatherman first announced that we would be playing the title track from Gladiator. Then he said we were playing the theme from Gladiator (uh, which one? I think I read in a Zimmer interview that there are around 18 themes in that movie). Then he said we were playing the main titles from Gladiator (which I thought was even funnier seeing as how I’m pretty sure Gladiator didn’t have any main titles at all). We were actually playing a crappy arrangement of Barbarian Horde. Go figure.

GuestI guess that’s what we should come to suspect in such a shady organization.
