Guest… would be very kewl if the guys decided to pull an Eagles or a Fleetwood Mac on us. I was unfortunate enough not to get into Oingo Boingo’s tunes until around 1996. So I have forever lost out on my chance to see the most spectacular fucking band ever in concert. I do have the DVD edition of the farewell concert, however. If you are a Boingo fan and dont have it, GET IT. If you have never seen or heard them live, GET IT. You can buy it new or used (for dirt cheap) via amazon.com. If anyone has heard anything about a possible reunion, or even anyone from the band mentioning a reunioin possibility, please be sure to post it here!!

GuestAbsolutely!!! I came in after ’96 too…and I’m still sobbing about it. Although I’m glad they didn’t go out like the eagles and fleetwood mac who broke up cuz they f*ckin hated each other. As for a reunion, sad as it is, I wouldn’t hold my breath. Danny seems pretty intent on sticking to his word on the Farewell.
From 1997:
“Farewell means farewell, and as we performed our ‘farewell’ tour a year ago last halloween, it would be hypocritical of us to announce more shows. I wish I could tell you otherwise, but, alas, that’s the way it is.”RR

GuestSo, I have the video, is it worth getting the dvd too?
I’ve heard from one source, (and alzheimers prevents me from recalling the source), that it wasn’t really remastered, and there were no extra tunes, so it didn’t make that much difference.
Anyone have an idea?May 22, 2003 at 2:47 am #45170Anonymous
GuestI pay way too much attention to little things, but some of the camera work is different, like it’s wider or pulled back more( I don’t know snazzy camera terms.) I remember thinking that I couldn’t see what was happening behind certain persons during the VHS, but I could see more on the DVD. I thought maybe some shots were a bit different, but I’m not psycho enough to watch both together to find out. It doesn’t really make a difference, unless you like to obsess over itty bitty things. I went ahead and got the DVD cus it’ll last longer and has better quality overall and the concet is all on one disc, instead of on two tapes. (Not like that’s obsessing or anything)
teehee. Your call.Jo (so I’m slightly OCD, sue me!) Elfgirl

GuestI suspect we’ll never see a Boingo reunion outside of, slim to none, a majority of the members getting on board to contribute a song to a movie soundtrack. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to see, or moreso hear, a new Boingo song as I think Elfman’s vocal harmonies have been dormant too long, but the band never had Eagles or Fleetwood Mac status. Only “Dead Man’s Party” ever went gold.
This is one case where I’d love to swallow my cynicism with a hunk of crow, but I think I’m facing truth on this one.
