We all know that Danny Elfman has been influenced by Bernard Herrmann and Nino Rota, but there’s others. In September 2009, we looked at The Beatles: http://elfman.filmmusic.com/forum/read.php?7,34922
Well, now let’s look at Elmer Bernstein.

April 29, 2010 at 8:51 am #65380DannyBikerParticipantSorry Descent, I don’t hear any Bernstein’s influences in Danny Elfman’s work. At least not in the examples your a mentionning here (the Airplane example is a joke right ?).
April 29, 2010 at 9:40 pm #65388Descent Into MysteryParticipantHow about “To Kill a Mocking Bird”? A film released in 1962 when Elfman was only 9-years-old.

There’s a little Alexander Nevsky in The Frighteners.
April 30, 2010 at 7:44 am #65392D-BoParticipantThere’s some Alexander Nevsky in Darkman, as well. Good stuff.
