I own three Amon Tobin albums, too… I’m so ashamed.

Guest“I like different ones for different reasons, some like John Barry’s Jaws (1975) or Bernard Herrmann’s Vertigo (1958) are my favourites because they interprate the action in the film so literally.”
Ah, of course, John Barry’s Jaws. I, myself, prefer the John Williams version, but the Barry rescore works well. John Barry’s work on Star Wars and Indiana Jones, however, is phenomenal.

GuestI thought he was referring to “Raindrops keep falling on my head”. You either love it or you hate it. :o)
(And the other inaccuracy seems to be that he says “the last Spider-Man” then adds 2002, when the last Spider-Man film was this year’s. Hey, maybe he hated the additional music! Shall we keep ridiculing his views or move on to character assassination?)

GuestMan, I hate how crappy composers are to other composers.

GuestOh, and just to make sure that wasn’t take out of context, that “this is ART you dipsh**s” line was aimed at those stupid composers, not all you guys cause you are all in it for the right reason, unlike most damn composers.

GuestYeah, there are very many self-righteous composers out there. I’ve had to deal with one in particular over the internet a couple of months ago. He basically called my music **** for no apparent reason, and I never asked for his opinion … Let’s just say it’s a good thing we weren’t in the same room together (although I doubt he would have had the balls to critique my work if we were).

GuestTobin: “Durrrrrrr… Elfman sucked on Spider-man! I could have done better… just like John Barry on Jaws.”
*Elfman walks into the room and kicks his ass*

GuestYes, and John Williams’ work on James Bond was simply incredible… why don’t people write scores like that anymore, eh?

GuestWell, actually the production designer on the first STAR WARS _was_ named John Barry.
