GuestFirst, I’d just like to say this is my first post here and I’m a HUGE fan of Elfman. Now that that’s out of the way, I have a question concerning one of his pre-film-composer-era compositions: the “Piano Concerto number one and a half.” I have done numerous Google searches on this and cannot seem to find any information on it other than it being mentioned in a few of his interviews. Does anyone know where I can find a recording of this and, dare I ask, sheet music for it?

GuestWell, I’ve never heard of this… it could be something he did with Oingo Boingo – I don’t think he really had a composing life before Pee Wee in any big way.

GuestYou might have already read this, Gigabyte, but Danny talks about it here, and yes, I think it is a boingo piece. It sounds like it came originally from him transcribing those Duke Ellington piano solos for the band.

GuestHe says, “Then I started composing ambitious pieces, such as ‘The Piano Concerto Number One and a Half.’ That was a crazy Prokofiev-like piece that, if anything, was a precursor to film scoring.”
Interesting.

GuestAnyone else have info? Again, I’m looking for a recording and a slight possibility of there being sheet music for it.
