GuestI have a good idea for MGM’s “Birth of The Pink Panther.” Danny Elfman would be a great choice to do the film’s soundtrack. He could do his own version of that famous Pink Panther score and perform jazzy tunes for the film. Maybe, a bumbling and heroic (Batman-like) tune for Clouseau. There’s rumours of a scene when Inspector Clouseau’s boss, Dreyfus started seeing psychotic dellusions of the animated Panther. Perhaps Danny could do a bizzare and nightmare-like theme for that scene. I’m not sure if Steve Martin would do a good job as playing Clouseau, but I would like to see Kelsey “Frasier” Grammer as Dreyfus and Anthony Wong (Ghost from “The Matrix Reloaded”) as Cato. I hope MGM would choose Elfman as the film’s composer.

GuestYeah, the film’s director is Shawn Leevy (JUST MARRIED and CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN) and as such, I’m guessing that the film is going to be a little “light-weight” and not something that really demands a big, powerful score, you know? Christophe Beck scored the director’s previous two movies, and I wouldn’t be too shocked if he got the gig. He’s a pretty good composer, by the way.

GuestChristophe Beck is a good composer… he did a lot with a little (i.e. tiny orchestras using synthesisers, and very limited time periods) for the music for Buffy. If you don’t know what I mean, watch the ballet in the episode Once More With Feeling. Brilliant.
sorry for the timewasting, but Christophe Beck is great.March 21, 2004 at 4:45 pm #49063Anonymous
GuestI think it’s blasphemy that they’re doing another Pink Panther movie… Steve Martin is hilarious, but Clouseau’s role has been set by Sellers – no one could now beat that! It’s like when they did son of the pink panther… just not the same!
Now I’m on moaning about rubbish sequels & remakes… WHY are they gonna do a sequel to the mask!? ESPECIALLY with a baby! I just can’t believe they’re ruining classics like these! The Mask was amazing… this new thing? …won’t be. full stop .
