Another quick google search says that Yared was (is?) set to score but he wouldn’t be Yared if he didn’t have to leave for whatever reason.
Who’s scoring the Carrie remake, which is scheduled for release in October? That could be a promising Elfman project. Or perhaps Enders Game.
Now THIS could be interesting. Van Sant is a frontrunner to direct 50 Shades of Grey…

Errol Morris’ first feature film ‘Holland, Michigan’ is gaining steam, with Naomi Watts and Bryan Cranston set to star. The script topped last year’s black list too. I’d like to see their collaboration continue.
Oh man, I read that script; it’s really good. Lots of interesting and dark elements to it. Elfman would be great a great addition. Fingers crossed.
My bad, someone brought it up in an interview and Morris didn’t correct him so I assumed it was true.
Mike Flanagan (Somnia) is directing an adaption of Stephen King’s Gerald’s Game. Gerald’s Game is very much the (less good) sister to Dolores Claiborne so I’d love to see Elfman involved.
It’s quite a difficult book to adapt I think…I’ll be curious to see it, even if Elfman is not involved.
Tim Burton’s go-to costume designer, Colleen Atwood, has designed the costumes for the superheroes in the TV shows Arrow, The Flash and now Supergirl. Check out the Supergirl costume here: http://i.imgur.com/Ogmmx7L.png . And I think it would be awesome if the producers hired Danny Elfman to write the theme for Supergirl. Arrow and The Flash have very generic music. It fits the show, don’t get me wrong, but it’s the same forgettable music we heard on Smallville for 10 seasons. I think it’s time they took some notes from the 1990’s Flash TV show and Batman: The Animated Series and got Elfman on board. If he’s willing to compose additional music for The Avengers: Age of Ultron, I think he would consider this as well.
I hope not. I hope he steers clear of action and superhero films for a while and continues to develop his more introverted drama sound. But that’s just my personal preference.
Sacha Gervasi (Hitchock) and James Ponsoldt (The End of the Tour) but have thrillers coming out next year. I wonder if either is the small film Danny says he might score.
On a side note, I just read an interview with Paul Haggis and he mentioned how he really wanted Danny to score ‘Third Person’ but had to use a European composer.
Two Fifty Shades sequels will be shooting back-to-back early next year and will be directed by James Foley. I’d love to hear more from Elfman in this franchise, it’s my favourite of his 2015 output.
Ellen Segal, the music editor on countless movies that Elfman has scored, is working on ‘The Circle’ by James Ponsoldt (The End of the Tour). A sign that he’s involved?
Guillermo Del Toro’s next film is screaming for an Elfman score.
