GuestThere is a percussion instrument that is fairly prominent in a couple of Elfman’s soundtracks and I’d like to know if anyone knows what it is. In Spider-man’s Main Titles, it comes in right in between 0:29 and 0:30. The second occurance is in the percussion solo at the end of Titles Revisited from Men In Black II at about 2:32. Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

GuestDo you mean that fast clicking sound? That’s a high-hat. Or do you mean that wooden sound on each downbeat? (I’m talking in terms of the Spidey track, here). If you mean the wooden sound, then it’s either a large woodblock, perhaps played with a soft mallet, or it could be a South-American woodblock (different shape), or a temple block. If it’s none of those, then it’s probably one of Danny’s favourite ethnic percussion samples. If it’s the latter, then you’ve got some research to do

GuestI’m talking about the one on the downbeat, but yeah, you’re right, it sounds like some kind of wooden block. Anyone else got any suggestions?
