GuestBack in 94, Danny and the band were on The Tonight Show and Danny got a standing ovation when he walked on stage. That was great. I mean that was really cool. His interview was great too. Talked for a little about The Band, his brother, composing, ect. He sung “Hey”. Leno looked pretty impressed.

GuestI waited all week to see that show back in ’94, and the night it was on I sat excitedly in front of the TV with the VCR at the ready to tape it.
Then that freaking O-Jay Simpson chase garbage took over the station (the affiliate decided to preempt Leno (and Boingo!) so we could watch a stupid truck driving along a highway. I’ll forever be pissed about that.
The upside was I was able to go to the final Chicago Boingo concert soon after and got a front row standing position right in front of Danny. He “gave me five” during a song and then I got to talk to him after the show outside. Great memories of those days besides the Leno/O-Jay debacle

GuestHey Steven,
I was at that Chicago show in 94 too. You’re talking about the one at the Metro, right? I remember that Danny was wearing a beret after the show. Also that he went crowd surfing before the last encore and got a monster scratch on the side of his neck. My other strong memory is being at the bar and seeing a girl who looked like a female version of Danny. Really scary.

Guest..those female versions of Danny must be hell…red headed chicks are DA BOMB, man…love ’em all. Come to think of it, my best friend is (or was, rather) a redhead, my first legit girlfriend was a redhead, another girl i was mad for was a redhead…and, why, just the other day this red head Czech girl from work gave me a condescending bitch-out – so now i have a red headed enemy, as well.

GuestFemale versions of Danny? Hm…are we talking “Dannyesque” in terms of the infamous 1989 Batman promo photo? He does have a bit of a “come hither” look in that one. You’re not referring to a woman who looks like present-day Danny, are you? An uber-pale, balding woman in a suit just does not sound like appealing eye candy – if you’re into looking at girls, that is. Then again, she could be “all right in the sort of limited way for an off night,” to quote Paul Simon

T – I echo your sentiments on redheads. Change “redheaded girls” to “redheaded guys” and you’ve got my preference by far! My first “legit” beau was also a redhead. Incidentally, I have naturally blonde hair that I just streaked with fire-engine red. I’ve always wanted to be a redhead, but alas, I’ll just have to settle for being an imposter

GuestYeah, but with blonde you can easily convert…so it’s not bad at all. take my enemy, the Czech – she’s got that orange hair, and that’s because she dyed it. But since she’s done such a good dye job, and that’s what she wants to be seen as, then to hell with it – she’s a redhead in my book. I mean, she’s just as crazy as a redhead is, anyway. She tried to get me fired for something I didn’t even do, and was VERY VERY determined to do so, i might add. I guess i led her on, or something (beats me, really)…but that’s not the point. The point is, try it out! Maybe you’ll surprise yourself. Although the streaks you mention are equally cool.

GuestYeah, I remember. I was there. Meet Danny backstage and then chatted with him at his car.
Some of the regulars at this board are probably pretty freakin’ bored with that whole story, though.
But I couldn’t help bringing it up.
I’ll slink away now, though.-beth
