KeymasterI happened upon this fan-made movie from a link and watched about five minutes of it. I had to stop and seek out info on the composer because their main titles music was an obvious homage to Elfman’s THE FRIGHTENERS + CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY. The composer is Jon Vandergriff. Here’s a direct link to a Flash MP3 player (his website is terribly made and Flash based so you can never get to a direct link – why oh why do people do this!??) where you can sample the entire score. Play “Main Titles” and you’ll see/hear too!

ParticipantPretty cool, but that synth progression is a total ripoff!

ParticipantYeah, I’m definitely hearing the Elfman/CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY vibe in the credits there. There are also plenty of Bernstein “tributes” in the score proper. I also doubt they’ve paid to use the Ray Parker song. But pretty well-made, altogether, for a fan-made, amateur thing.

ParticipantI love the score for this film, I don’t know why you guys have a problem with it, I hear it as an homage to Danny.

ParticipantYeah. Ray ain’t seen a nickel, but from what I understand…he may know about the film.
And geez, just straight up bashing the guy’s website? C’mon no need to get childish; I agree with Omni in finding the score as a homage.

ParticipantHrm…I dunno about the Frighteners. I think it’s a mishmash of a bunch of 80’s and 90’s scores. I hear a lot of Goldsmith in there…”Poltergeist” and a lot of influence from Raiders of the Lost Ark.

My favorite track is the one he calls “Portals”. http://www.jonvandergriff.com/media/music/mp3/rotg/rotg21_portals.mp3
