Now I know that it is probably too late to mention this, but I just have to bring this up.

Several months ago I was channel surfing. On this particular Saturday afternoon, I was searching for something decent to watch amidst a sea of garbage. Suddenly, I found myself stopping, as they say, dead in my tracks. My ear had been immediately drawn to the sweet sounds of Danny’s Sommersby “Main Titles” beginning.

Unfortunately, the film was not Sommersby. Instead of Sommersby, the film was some movie featuring James Caan; however, I was 100% certain that I had heard a brief sample of Danny’s music over the logos. I didn’t post anything at the time because the logos were so short that I was unable to identify the production company.

Last night we rented Runaway Jury. To my delight as the film opens, I distinctly heard the same short arrangement from Sommersby. The music was playing as the Regency logos were shown, which then faded into the opening credits. Has anyone else noticed this before?

Can anyone verify this? Was this music created by Danny – or did Danny utilize an existing piece of logo music when arranging the Sommersby “Main Titles”?

That is it. Thank you patient reader.

Sommersby was simply a Morgan Creek production. They liked the music, so they made it their logo! I think the recording we’re hearing is just a sample from the Elfman recording.
