ParticipantMovie sounds terrific and should certainly have a great score. Could/should be a big awards contender.

ParticipantI think Elfman’s involvement will tell us if it will be more of a traditional/hollywoodian movie or something more experimental like Gerry…

ParticipantWell, it would be rather interesting to hear Elfman on something experimental, Gerry-like.
I hope he will score this movie, I love the mood he gives to his Van Sant scores.February 6, 2014 at 7:01 pm #67763ddddeeee
ParticipantI seem to remember Van Sant saying that he was done with his more experimental film making. His last three films have had Elfman scores despite the big drought beforehand which I think supports that.

ParticipantBudget is $25M which seems far removed from Van Sant’s other experimental movies. The movie is also partly flashback to scenes with McConaughy’s wife. You never know of course but I think and hope this will have a score.

ParticipantElfman’s recent works for Van Sant movies are both very agreable album listening experiences, and very efficient in the movie I think. So, if I was Van Sant, I would not hesitate to hire him again.
But well…I’m maybe not completly objective : smiling smileyMay 18, 2014 at 9:41 am #67889DannyBiker
ParticipantIf they go with an original score, I don’t see why Elfman wouldn’t be hired…

ParticipantVan Sant hasn’t worked with another composer since 1995 so it’s a very safe bet.

ParticipantCollaboration confirmed ! Elfman will work on this one
May 29, 2014 at 7:31 pm #67921ddddeeee
ParticipantBecause someone edited the IMDB page?
EDIT: I see Edward was talking about it on Filmtracks. He’s reliable and was first to mention Elfman was on American Hustle IIRC.

ParticipantThat’s exactly because Edward confirmed that I considered the information as reliable. Smiling smiley

ParticipantDanny’s name has been removed everywhere and replaced with a Mason Bates.
The movie is finished and so it’s pretty safe to say Danny wasn’t involved.

ParticipantSchedule conflicts perhaps ?

ParticipantThis is getting absolutely destroyed at Cannes, major booing after the screening apparently.

ParticipantThat’s what happens when you miss a Danny Elfman score…
May 16, 2015 at 12:58 pm #63681ddddeeee
ParticipantIt’s probably around that time when Van Sant needs to make an Oscar bait movie again.
I was really looking forward to this, still going to check it out.

ParticipantReally??? It got destroyed at Cannes?
Funny, Richard Elfman and Danny’s daughter Mali are currently in Cannes with Gus Van Sant…
I had totally forgotten Danny wasn’t involved in this project anymore.May 17, 2015 at 4:54 pm #59961ddddeeee
ParticipantYep, reviews are absolutely scathing.
