GuestNow, I like to think I’m compassionate, as opposed to a big girl’s blouse, here…
I watched Edward Scissorhands tonight, for the first time since I was 8 years old!!! And every time that emotional theme comes up (you see the major chord, which moves up to the 1st inversion, then the root note is dropped a semitone, making a minor chord on the 3rd degree)… every time that came up, I started sobbing! Edward Scissorhands is possibly one of the most beautiful creations ever conceived… EVER!!!!! And I feel so ashamed that during the 8 years since I last saw the film, I didn’t quite realise how special it is. It touched me so deeply!!! It totally occupies my brain, now. Sorry if I sound like a blabbering fool, now… but wow! I had to share this with you guys – Sorry if it sounds dumb.

GuestDont apologize for expressing your feelings.
Big Fish gives Scissorhands a decent run for it’s money, man…even though fish sounds more rustic than scissors. I’d have to say his best emotionally stirring stuff has to be Edward, Big Fish, Simple Plan, Family Man, Good Will Hunting and i’d even say Instinct. Make a mix of that stuff and you’ll get all depressed.
I WILL say this though – i won’t listen to Edward very much at ALL because it serves to inspire more sadness than happiness, so it’s kind of tricky to get in and out of that particular racket…December 27, 2003 at 2:18 am #47322Anonymous

GuestI ktruly understand how you feel. Ed Scissorhands is my top favorite all time movie-and my favorite Johnny Depp character. Danny^s music really touches your heart strings like no other soundtrack has, and no matter how many times I^ve seen it since it was first released, it always brings tears-no more like sobs.

GuestAahh… well, there we are. I’m not alone. And this is simply a testament to what Danny and Tim can do… If I ever get into the film scoring business, I hope I find a director I can get that special relationship with, like Danny has.

GuestFor me, nothing will match Black Beauty – there’s my own personal sob-fest. I mean, what kind of kids’ movie is it when he sees his girly friend getting carted off to the glue factory?! (Answer: a really great kids’ movie!) I, too, watched Edward last evening, followed by Black Beauty and Dancer in the Dark. You can guess how I spent my evening…
