GuestYep, I did! I did it for fun, though. I entered, but I know I won’t win!

Here’s a link to what I’ve done if you want to see it: http://www.angelfire.com/film/smadte/TEMPTRESS_LOW.avi

GuestIs it just me or am I the only one without any sort of artificial orchestra program? I’m working on a series of shorts with my friend, and I want to compose a main theme based on what I might improvise, but no software here. If anyone might be interested in working for free, let me know

By the way Mr. Dantz, I liked your music for the clip. Very nice.

Guestyou might try Sibilius or Finale Music Notating software to write music in midi formats.

Guestmr. dantz, some of those orchestral sounds u used were nice(the cello was great). what soundcard did u use, what program?

GuestThanks, elf and Spider-Fan. I use Sonar 3 for my sequencer, and for my soundcard, I use the Echo MIA MIDI. As for the samples, I used mostly Miroslav and some free soundfonts. If you’re interested in getting into this kind of stuff, it is becoming less and less expensive. You can get an earlier version of SONAR (I think), a nice soundcard and some nice samples all for around 600 bucks (that’s assuming you already have a computer to run the stuff). It would probably be DOUBLE or even TRIPPLE the cost just a few years ago.

Guesti use a roland xp 30 for my comps, along with cubase SX and an audigy soundcard.

GuestYou should look into getting some nice samples. The best for least money right now, in my opinion, is the Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra (silver edition) set. Check it out and hear samples here: http://www.soundsonline.com/sophtml/details.phtml?sku=EW-161
I’m sure you could use this with that soundcard and everything else you have. You should look into it. It makes all the difference in the world to have nice samples!
