GuestI couldn’t find this issue being discussed in previous posts — I hope I’m not rehashing something that I missed…
In the rather fast-moving end credits of SM2, I noticed in the “songs” credits that some actual music cues had Danny Elfman’s name attached with Christopher Young. Just curious to know what the story is there. And were there other joint efforts I did not spot in the credits?

GuestWell, the cues credited to “Christopher Young and Danny Elfman” were written by Young, but using Elfman’s theme (which is why they shared the credit). Elfman didn’t have any direct involvemnt with them. John Debney’s cues are credited to Debney alone because they don’t use Elfman’s themes.

GuestI could have sworn that the Debney cue contained a reference to Elfman’s Spider-man material… in fact, at one point I thought it segued into a live percussion version of the synth material heard after Uncle Ben’s death in film one.

GuestDebney’s “Special Delivery” uses at least two times the Spidey theme and also the secondary heroic theme.
I made two mp3 out of a video of the scene I found on a french site :

GuestAh, thanks. I was worried I was going nuts… moreso.

GuestYeah, Debney definitely used Danny Elfman’s Spidey themes in there. It’s pretty obvious, I think. In fact, when I saw the movie for the first time without knowing which cues Debney wrote, I was pretty much certain that “Special Delivery” was Danny’s. I’m so mad that it’s not on the album!
