GuestHey there,
Does anyone know by any chance, that if during the Spiderman 2 Main Titles song on the score coming out, if the ‘interesting’ synthedic sfx that happens when the web first shoots across in the movie. Im not sure if you know what sound im talking about but it wasn’t in the first one, its right after they show the marvel logo.
Thanks!

GuestIt almost sounded like the blaster-beam used in Star Trek: The Motion Picture!

GuestThe album versions of some of Elfman’s cues (particurally his main titles) are often a bit different than what was in the film, with differnt sounds in the mix and whatnot. The album version of the main titles from the first MEN IN BLACK, for example, has a lot more going on than the version in the film did. The opposite was true with the first SPIDER-MAN, where the album version was a bit “leaner” than the version in the film was. As for SPIDER-MAN 2… who knows? I guess we’ll find out in two weeks!

Really? I didn’t notice that. What more is going on in the CD version?

Only examples I can think of are the Planet of the Apes main titles where there’s an added flutter tongue flute in the film, A Simple Plan where the quarter-tone piano motif is missing and Sleepy Hollow which had a slightly cut “intro”. It would be interesting to hear other examples.

Guestin sleepy hollow main titles there seems to be a big differance in the woodwind instruments playing on the cd than that of the film. the flutes especially are more accented on the cd and seem to carry the theme more than that of the film.
planet of the apes main titles seems to have a differant ending as far as i can remember :S or perhaps im going mad..im not sure lolJuly 15, 2004 at 1:30 pm #51214Anonymous
GuestI ripped the isolated score from the PotA DVD, so I could listen to it. So yeah, the main titles is shorter in the movie, but it ends differently (and I actually like the end better in the movie version).

GuestThat synth effect in the “Main Titles” also appears in “Return of The Goblin”.

GuestI have to say that the sound you hear when the first web shoots onto the screen in the Main Title maight not be something Danny himself did, that might be a sound they put in during post production with all of the other sound effects, thats why we don’t hear it on the cd – Thats my thought

GuestI believe that that synth sound is also in the first film, but not on any of the album tracks.

GuestI’ve got a different question about the spiderman 2 soundtrack.
Will it get a decent release in the United Kingdom?I couldn’t find Spiderman one anywhere other than the godawful “inspired by” CD (okay – it wasn’t godawful but i hate “inspired by” cd’s). Once I did find the score but it was £20 and so I just got the DVD instead for £9. I’m assuming the price was so high because it was imported? Everytime I find the score on the internet it is an import CD.
I hope Sony Records will redress the balance with this CD.
Does anyone know if they will?

GuestTQB: That sound effect you were asking for is indeed on the “Main Titles” on the score CD, but it’s much more louder in the movie. It’s by Danny, not by some sound design guy.

GuestWierd move on adding that sound effect to the main titles track for this score of Spidey. On the first film the sound effect was only in the film and not on the score, but this time it is for some reason. As the person above mentioned the effect is indeed louder in the film than on the score, I guess they were trying to hide the fact the the main titles on both pictures are pretty much the same.

GuestThe synth effect used when the web shoots across the screen right after the Marvel logo was used in the first movie, only it sounded a lot different. They revamped it for the second movie when they retinted the first 15 seconds or so of the main titles red (originally created in blue). I like the revamped effect a lot better…
The 2002 movie score did not have the synth effect, it was added later to the movie in post-production. The 2004 movie (as said earlier) has it in the score but it is not nearly as loud.
If you really want to hear the synth effect really, really loud, go see SM2 on the IMAX screen. IT IS SO FREAKING AWESOME. They did some incredible things with it when they remastered it. I’m hoping to find the main titles online on the Prologue Films (people who did the titles) website or somewhere else. Please let me know if someone finds it…. or if you have the main titles form the movie not the score.
Thanks.
