Spiderman theme played by live orchestra

Hey,

I just found this video. It’s an orchestral medley from Spiderman 3, conducted by Diego Navarro, as a tribute to Christopher Young’s music. It contains Elfman’s main titles theme, but no one mentions Danny’s name anywhere… How strange….

Well, the performance was to honor Chris Young, so it makes sense to make it about him… However if I were honoring Chris Young, the last score I’d perform would be SM3.

I couldn’t agree more… Why Spiderman 3?!? And I still can’t figure out why they honor Chris Young by starting to play someone else’s theme. For example, if I wanted to honor John Ottman’s music, why would I start by playing John Williams’ Superman theme?!!?

I’ll bet that no one was more surprised than Christopher. Seriously, that heartfelt ‘thank you’ followed by someone else’s music…?

That certainly was thrilling to watch.

Too bad it was ruined by those horrible, out-of-place Sandman and Black Suit themes.

I’ll die happy the day I can attend an Elfman concert where I can hear Batman, Pee Wee and NBC performed by a live orchestra.
