GuestWell… I need help here… One of my friends just made me a copy of a spiderman2 score cd… I know it seems weird, and I just don’t know where it comes from… Anyway, I’m positively sure it is elfman’s work, and it surely sounds like a spiderman2 score to me… He said he got it on the net, somewhere called “e-mule” ?!? Does anyone know about that??? Does that mean the score would be released ?
I just can’t imagine this being composed by another person than elfman…Ryan, please, say something… You always know everything!!!!

GuestIt must be the first score cd I guess…

GuestWell, it isn’t the first score cd, because I own the spiderman1 score cd, and I listen to it all the time… It really is a new score, with variations of the spiderman theme, and with new material…

GuestHave you heard the Spider-Man 2 previews clips on Sony website ? If you haven’t, go here http://www.sonymusicstore.com/store/catalog/MerchandiseDetails.jsp?merchId=70529&mname=Vinyl , listen to Spidey and Doc Ock suites and tell us if you recognize any of the extracts.
But I’m cautious with this…

GuestIf it is anything, it is the audio files that they layer onto the film prior to Box Office release, because i don’t think they have an actual score soundtrack for spidey-2 released yet anywhere. So i am almost positive it is bootleg from those film layers, but share it anyway!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gueste_mule/kazaa/e_donkey etc. are sharing network kind of things to STEAL MUSIC.
I do not doubt that what your friend has downloaded is the real “Spiderman 2” score by Danny Elfman – most of the CDs (and films) tend to appear on these downloading networks *before* the official release date.
I highly suggest you throw it away and buy the CD when it comes out. You know, in stores and such.June 6, 2004 at 5:26 pm #50404Anonymous
GuestWell, in response to what Ed Bloom suggested, I just listened to the samples of the two themes appearing on the various artists soundtrack, and I do recognize them. I think the cd I’ve got is the real Spiderman2 score, but if they release an official score album, I doubt it’ll be the same, because some tracks are edited in a weird way. Perhaps FFC is right, it may be a copy of the audio files they used in the movie…
Anyway, I never “stealed” music before, like Nin Cherry said… First of all, I did not download those files myself, and then, I admit I often download rare stuff, and this is normal : I’m curious… But as soon as an official release comes out, I buy it. I’m a composer myself, and I do respect the music, and the composers !
For example, I had a copy of the family man bootleg, and as soon as the dvd came out, with the isolated score on it, I bought it, and believe me, this wasn’t for the movie itself…If anyone has more informations on that strange recording I’ve got, let me know… Ryan, I’m still waintin’ for your opinion. You’re the boss, man

GuestAre you able to post some clips online?
June 6, 2004 at 6:01 pm #50407Anonymous
GuestAnd what about the quality of the tracks ?
On one hand, I’m curious but on the other hand, I prefer to wait for the suites and the score album…

GuestWell, the sound quality is not bad at all. It’s not perfect, but it’s good. It depends on the track… I have to listen more carefully. I haven’t had much time lately because of the exams. I don’t really know how to post some clips online… and… I mean, I’m happy to have this recording, but I’m not sure it is a good idea to post clips if this cd is not supposed to be heard… Maybe, if Ryan confirms this cd is really what it’s supposed to be, I’ll send him a copy, so that he can post some clips online…
I’ll take time tomorrow to listen to it more carefully, and I’ll write a short review of it.Eric

GuestAre there fluctuations in the overall volume of the tracks (and within the tracks themselves)?

Guestis it the spider-man 2 soundtrack?

GuestBoingomusic,
My best guess is that what you have is a rough sessions disc of “Spider-Man 2” that somebody at Columbia Pictures made a copy of (and is distributing via Internet). In any case, I’m still interested in hearing more about it. I look forward to your review in the next day or so.

GuestI searched eMule. No SPIDER-MAN 2 tracks to be found.
I tried emailing Eric. No such user. What’s going on?

GuestOops, sorry guys… Didn’t notice that e-mail wasn’t working anymore… I used to use this adress for posting here and everywhere else to avoid spam in my other e-mail adress. Apparently, they closed the account… the new one is eric.illusions@caramail.com (sorry Ryan).
I tried searching e mule too, but didn’t find anything… I’ll ask my friend again to know exactly where he got this.Yes, there are volume fluctuations in the recording, but not within the tracks themselves.

GuestI was going to say the same thing.

GuestHello cruel world !
I’ve news for you… Bad news… well, not all bad, but disappointing news…
I listened to the cd with one of my best friends who knows all elfman scores by heart. It seems like some of the tracks on the cd I’ve got are a mix of some action cues of the first spiderman. I didn’t recognize them because they don’t start at the beginning of the original tracks… Then, one of the tracks seems to be taken from “extreme measures”, a score that I had never heard…Then, the good news : At least three tracks seem to be real spiderman2 cues. The first two should be the tracks that appear on the soundtrack : spidey theme, and Doc Ock theme. The third one is a slowed down, piano version of the spiderman theme, which sounds here like the Family Man theme. The recording of this third track is not as good as the two others… I don’t know if this one’s an official recording. It sounds more like a demo or something.
Anyway, I’ll try sending those three tracks to Ryan by e-mail, so he can put them here.Sorry to all of you who thougt it was the whole score… I’m as disappointed as you are… I should learn to wait instead of believing everything I’m told…

GuestRight.

GuestA piano version of the theme? I’ll bet that sounds great! Perhaps similar to the Cerulean Pictures version of it. Try to get that posted here, I’m anxious to hear what it sounds like.

GuestI just sent three samples to Ryan. Let’s wait and see what he says about those tracks…
I really hope that this mystery disc lets us with, at least, three tracks from the real Spiderman2 score…Eric
June 9, 2004 at 4:53 pm #50472Anonymous
GuestEric sent me three tracks, none of which are from Elfman’s SPIDER-MAN 2 score. One is a slow tempo piano version of the main titles from SPIDER-MAN (whoever dinged on Cerulean Pictures gets a prize), one track isn’t even music by Danny Elfman, the third sounds like a cue mixed from MEN IN BLACK and EXTREME MEASURES or FRIGHTENERS. I’ll have to check them again when I get home from work.
