I just rented a movie called “the nightmare before christmas” to re watch it. I was stunned by one thing above all – and that’s the wonderfull music. It’s imersive and enchanting. after watching I just had to find the composer.

Does anyone know where they could find any elfman sheet music? I would like to take a look at what’s going in the music. Theres no way ANYONE could discern this stuff by ear – except maybe some of the pedal tone stuff

Theres no way ANYONE could discern this stuff by ear – except maybe some of the pedal tone stuff: I can as I play everything by ear, but anyhow, don’t just stop at The Nightmare Before Christmas, listen to all of his scores (on CD if you can), they are the most moving and memoriable I have ever heard. Check out Edward Scissorhands, which I know probably holds a special place in everyone’s hearts (at least those who post here).

I’m with Jason: the grand finale is all-out weepiness for me; I love it! Actually, my most favorite is “Black Beauty,” hands down. There’s an underappreciated score if there ever was one. I’m not saying that *you people* don’t appreciate it — just that it is, IMHO, the best Elfman score of the 90s, and has gotten very overlooked in lieu of Batman, NMBC and Edward. Although, I didn’t really go nuts over it until I’d listened to it a few times…
