The trailer for “The Kingdom,” an upcoming yet somehow little-discussed Danny Elfman project, just went online and it looks kinda interesting and exciting. However, it’s shot in that Michael Bay/Michael Mann/Peter Berg style, so I’m really surprised that one of Zimmer’s guys weren’t tapped for this one. I mean, the trailer is filled with Trevor Rabin and Harry Gregson-Williams stuff, so one would assume accordingly, right? I’m guessing Danny’s going with a “Planet of the Apes” or “Proof of Life” sound for this one. Check the link for the trailer, which has Danny’s name on it.
You know I’m actually excited that Elfman is doing a big, serious thriller / adult-drama. He gets stuck in the fantasy/whimsy genre sometimes and then scores one of these. I’m looking forward to the film too (I liked THE RUNDOWN, sue me!)

I liked THE RUNDOWN, too. It reminded me of MIDNIGHT RUN (a classic in the genre as far as I’m concerned) in some ways.
