GuestEvery Elfman fan should listen to the great soundtrack to the french animated film “Les Triplettes de Belleville”. It was composed by a french musician called Ben Charest and it reminded me a lot of the Oingo Boingo days: it has a lot of typical french accordeons (like Yann Tiersen’s wonderful “Amélie” soundtrack) but it has also some really fun experimental stuff with some really weird percussion, some 20s kind of music (which reminded me of “Forbidden Zone”, for example) and a theme song – which is nominated for an Oscar of Best Song, in fact – that’s really wicked and funny, by a crazy french pop singer called M. You should check this out, the soundtrack album is a delight. And PLEASE, don’t miss the movie – it’s the best, the most inspired and fun animated picture of the year. And yes, I didn’t forget “Finding Nemo”. This one has less computer work, but much more originality and a kind of dark comedic tone you’ll love. It’s one of my favorite films this year and truly addictive (the soundtrack is firmly inside my CD player and I keep watching the DVD – the french edition, but there’s also a british one – again and again.

GuestN –
The film actually came to the arthouse theater in my podunk cattletown…and what a pleasant surprise it was! I found the previews a bit dubious (which I saw before the screening of “Bubba Ho-Tep,” also an excellent flick). However, I quite enjoyed “The Triplets!” The soundtrack was quite funny as well. Bravo!
