GuestI’m going to speak for myself right now. If you have any words to back this up, it’d be much appreciated. If not, keep your stupid comments to yourself.
Hey Elfman! Be a pal. I know you must look at this website here and there. I can only sit here and reach out to you. You have FANS, and alot of them! Respond to us! Make a guest appearance somewhere! Sign a few autographs! Shake a few hands! Aknowledge us! The least you can do, despite the fact that there must be somethings you don’t agree with, is respond to the people who adore your work and everything you stand for. You’ve been such an inspiration to so many. I’ve promised myself that I’d meet you before I die. Now, no pressure, but please don’t leave me in the dust. I know you have a heart… I can see it in your work.

GuestDon’t count on this request working. Even if we do get a response, how do we know the person is really Danny Elfman.
Then again, how do we know Elfman doesn’t visit the board already, under some alias.

GuestHow do we know you’re not Danny?
August 8, 2003 at 7:30 pm #46139Anonymous
GuestI wasn’t looking for a response on this website. I’m aware of the retarded people that would have the balls to pose as Elfman. I just wanted to get that out, with hopes that he’ll hear me, and perhaps, do something about it.
August 9, 2003 at 2:18 am #46144Anonymous
GuestOh, ok! In that case I won’t respond anymore!
August 9, 2003 at 2:19 am #46145Anonymous
GuestOh. I read wrong. I’m not Danny. I’ll admit it.
August 9, 2003 at 4:34 pm #46149Anonymous
GuestMichael Kamen answers on the message board of his website (not every day, but quite often). Hope one day, Danny will…

GuestI don’t think Elfman likes the internet though.
Knight (I heard it’s because they took off all the “good stuff” hehe)

GuestJack is correct about Kamen. I received an email response from him once.
And funny that you bring him up because I just received his Guitar Concerto and On The Wings Of Victory CDs yesterday from Japan and I’m looking forward to his Open Range score that streets Tuesday.
(his Guitar Concerto actually contains a copy of the guitar part for the last movement in the case; and the last movement is presented a second time on the CD sans guitar for anyone who is good enough to play along – is that cool or what!?!)A truly accessible composer.

GuestIt never really bothered me that Elfman doesn’t “get involved” with his fans. I just always looked at it as giving him more time to write music. Besides, the man has a life. I think it’s fair if he spends time with friends and family (or just gets some rest) when not working rather than writing to people he doesn’t know. Sure, I’d like to get in touch with him as much as any fan, but I know it’s nothing personal, so I don’t worry about it. Still, I can’t blame anybody for trying to lure him out.

GuestIf I were a famous composer with tons of fans, and I had my own fansite, I would make the site my homepage. If I were ever lucky enough to have fans, I would get involved with them…hint hint nudge nudge, Danny…these are your biggest fans!!!
August 11, 2003 at 4:37 am #46174Anonymous
GuestHa! He probably doesn’t even know this discussion board exists.
August 11, 2003 at 5:58 pm #46179Anonymous
GuestHe knows.
And that’s about as into it as he gets.
As for cateering to his adoring public, he has done signings for both MFADT releases hasn’t he? We just need another one of those. And to be in LA at the right time.
August 12, 2003 at 7:50 pm #46184Anonymous
GuestWhy doesn’t he have signings for scores that he releases?
August 13, 2003 at 4:42 am #46188Anonymous
GuestI don’t think it’s a big deal at all. Just because we love his music doesn’t mean he owes us anything. Sure, I think it’s great when people give back a little to their fans, but Elfman sure as hell doesn’t HAVE to. I don’t think he “should”, either. If he wants some space from his fans, that’s fine with me. We’re probably pretty scary.
August 13, 2003 at 6:08 am #46190Anonymous
GuestScary? I don’t think there are that many scary people here … except for maybe a few.
August 13, 2003 at 2:27 pm #46193Anonymous
GuestLike me?
Oh, and I think ELfman has given alot to his fans…HIS MUSIC, and that is more than enough for me.
Knight (What more do you need?)
August 13, 2003 at 10:21 pm #46201Anonymous
GuestExactly Knight, exactly. And as for scary fans, Danny made an appearance on KROQ where he mentioned that on the way there he’d gotten an “offer” from some one saying they wanted to kill him and marry his corpse. Even though we’re generally
not like that (and he apparently took the incident lightly), I can see how he might be a little wary of us.August 16, 2003 at 11:41 pm #46223Anonymous
GuestThat is truly be a scary fan. I know (at least, I’m pretty sure), I would never be like that.
BTW, I’m new here. Hi.
August 17, 2003 at 4:55 am #46226Anonymous
GuestHi and Welcome!
September 2, 2003 at 4:36 am #46421Anonymous
GuestI am also new, so Hi to all. I would have to say that although it would be REALLY nice to be able to actually meet him, I don’t expect it. Not that he doesn’t care, he’s just a little bit busy. I would be right there with all of you though. : )
