I’ve just heard the a sample of this track Train/ Appreciation. I thought “Spidey Suite” was an actual track that wasn’t in the Elfman album. I love when some of it sounds like “Revenge”. It’s really moving, and has a heroic sound.

Some of it actually sounds alot like “The Grand Finale” track from Edward Scissorhands. The Grand Finale was one of the most moving songs I have ever heard, which makes Spider-Man 2’s score on my list for one of the hottest scores Danny has made.

yes and as good as the song is, i was really looking forward to the version of the song used in the film. Chris Youngs song was nice as well. im glad to have elfmans version but listening to Youngs would be nice as well because it would help me picture and remember the train scene more so than something that wasnt used. i wish it was included as a bonus track. hopefully they will release the song as an mp3 (as well as debner’s cues) so we can capture the total Spidey 2 score experience.

(p.s.- the appreciation part of the elfman score is one of his hottest choral cuesyet next to the choral cues in batman.)

Can we all agree that the Spider-Man 2 score is among Danny’s finest ever? It really is fantastic!

I think SPIDER-MAN 2 is good, but my favorite score he’s done in recent years is still HULK. Before that, it was probably THE FAMILY MAN.

Don’t know why I’m saying this, but I thought Spidy2 was a let-down (and not entirely the director/editor’s fault), the last brilliantly inspired Elfman score was Planet of the Apes (despite my initial cold reaction) and the last “classic” was Sleepy Hollow. I’m holding my breath that the next very promising projects restore my faith in genius rather than simply very very very good composing. If I don’t get my golden ticket I’m going to STROP BIG TIME!!!

Eh…it’s all good. Elfman doesn’t seem to like to do trilogies, so it’s not like any of us can expect more than this. Besides, this flick could very well end with a part 2 and it’d make sense- i could live with that…The only person i’ve heard that does amazing trilogy work to date is John Williams – at least he’s inventive and creates alot of new motifs and themes, despite the pain in the ass it must be to score a trilogy….Elfman’s better with two flicks.

Who’s Chris Young and Debney? I’ve heard of them on some site, as well as Steve Bartek. Are they the guys that was in the group Oingo Boingo, with Danny? What’s the difference between Chris Young or any of the other guy’s music and Danny Elfman’s music? If they sound alike, they that’s cool. I know Shirley Walker sounds alot like Danny’s scores. She’s great as well.

    Lol, no.
Both Young and Debney are very well respected composers, and have NO relationship with Danny. Debney and Elfman worked on Spy Kids in collaboration, but that should be it.

Bartek of course was an Oingo Member.

But Debney and Yound were probably brought in by the studio for rescores.

I might as well recommend a streamingsoundtracks.com, they play a whoe range of filmmusic all the time, it’s great to know everyone’s style.

The fact that some composers wirte similar scores to other composers might also be just because of the Temp Tracking of the film (the music layed over the film by the director before the movie is actually scored). Many directors request and a specific rewrite of the cues which is why you end up with strange result sometimes.

hey bloom i’m just goin by his track record…that and i don’t know many artists who like to be stuck making variations on the same painting…Hence the word “seem.”

John Williams is a talentless thief. Every one of his best scores has music ripped off from other classical pieces. Almost nothing he’s “written” is original.

hey maybe not…personally, i don’t really give a damn about track record or good and bad or temp tracking…The point is this music makes me feel something because i normally don’t feel anything. Without it, i’d be as hollow and soulless as a mailbox. This crap is unfortunately my crutch…If any of you are like this, then god help you.

Just got back from seeing Spider-Man 2 on IMAX (my 5th time seeeing it). I had been trying to remember what music there was during the train scene in the actual movie when Spidey is on the street and he begins swinging towards the train. I really liked Chris Young’s adaptation of the Spider-Man theme into a very choral, brassy piece that worked very well with the scene. On the way back I listened to the Spider-Man 2 score soundtrack and decided that I like Chris Young’s “Train” and Danny Elfman’s “Appreciation.” I wish they could have been blended, because “Appreciation” is one of the most beautiful pieces in the score, maybe better than “Armageddon/A Really Big Web!”

By the way, I encourage all who are able to to go see Spider-Man 2 on IMAX. The music sounds terrific and the bass systems are so good that you shake along with the events onscreen. So cool!
