GuestJust got back from a well-deserved Spring break trip to Mexico, and, of course, I couldn’t leave Elfman behind. I took some regular CDs (soundtracks, don’t have any Boingo), an MP3-CD with my favorite cues from just about all his scores, and I brought my laptop with my entire music library (no, I didn’t drag the thing out just to listen to music all the time, I brought it mostly with the purpose of working on my Spider-man transcription). So I was just wondering how you take Danny with you (regular CDs, MP3-CDs, iPod, etc…). And what’s your favorite travelin’ music (Elfman or otherwise)?

GuestI don’t like to listen to soundtracks while travelin’. I listen to Boingo, and others in the same vein. . . by the way, anyone have Lindsey Buckingham’s solo CD “Out of the Cradle”? I’ve been listening to that in the car lately, and it’s a friggin’ masterpiece. I suggest you have a listen to it, if you haven’t already!

GuestI’ve got my Dell Digital Jukebox packed with Elfman scores. I’ve set up playlists for each movie that he’s composed. I’m going away for 2 weeks in August on a cruise, and I don’t care for tropoical settings but I’m being dragged on. No doubt, I will be listening to a lot of Elfman.

GuestTravelin’ music, eh? For me, the standard is Paul Simon’s “Graceland.”

GuestOh yeah, I also pop in Billy Joel, Ladytron’s “604” and The Faint’s “Danse Macabre.”

GuestYet another few albums: Bright Eyes’ “Lifted…” and Cursive’s “The Ugly Organ.” Throw in a little Mahler and NPR’s “Performance Today” program and I’m good to go

GuestIn the category of Danny Elfman’s music, I listen to it all while traveling. Beetlejuice, Pee Wee, and The Simpsons always have a wild rollar coaster feeling, especially while driving. As for soothing, more mellow Elfman music, Edward Scissorhands is what I usually listen to. I also listen to Howard Shore (LOVE the Ed Wood soundtrack), John Williams (Star Wars, Close Encounters, and Jurassic Park are great), and “modern” songs (I like all kinds of music). Why, just 20 minutes ago I was just listening to Planet of the Apes in my car

GuestI’m feeling rather low-tech. If I’m driving, I use the CD and/or tape player that’s in the car. If I’m not driving, I use a CD player.
For long distances (which I rarely have to go on) I tend to go back and forth between Danny’s scores and other bands. If it’s just to work and such it’s either Oingo Boingo or The White Stripes.
My dream vacation would be in Alaska. I’m already sick of allergies. That, and the sun is not my friend. So, I wouldn’t have any of that tropical stuff, either.

GuestBunch of shrieking in the sun vampires on this board, except when it comes to having to read the dark text.
Car trips call for both Batmans and Boingo.
I find his other scores best for airplanes with Boss headphones and CD player. - AuthorPosts
