GuestHas anyone else detected a wee bit of Wagner-influence in Elfman’s works? Especially the main theme in ‘Spider-man’, I could hear a resemblance to some of the german composer’s themes from the ring of the nibelung, which one, I can’t seem to quite put my finger on. Immo, maybe?

GuestIn Elfman score reviews I consistently read about the Wagner influences in Batman, yet I own The Ring and haven’t heard any similarities other than the fact that Wagner’s works are operatic and Batman was musically designed to be as well.
If you’d like to hear Wagner-influenced music in film scores you should listen Korngold.

Guestthe opening titles for “Vertigo” sound like the true inspiration behind many of elfman’s thriller/suspense scores

GuestKorngold had a big part to play on Batman, as Elfman himself has said. He said that many people told him how Wagner Batman sounded, but he never listened to Wagner, but Korngold had, and he listened to Korngold, so it was a more 3rd Party inspiration.
Knight (Make sense?)
