What’s with the “Wheepy Donuts” cues in both the To Die For and Good Will Hunting soundtracks?

I’ve heard that it’s some kind of inside joke between Elfman and director Gus Van Sant. Does anyone know anything about this?

I believe that the “Wheepy Donuts” cue in “To Die For” is played during the police interrogation of one of the teen killers. If memory serves me, the scene ends with the kid mentioning donuts. It has been a long time since I’ve seen the film. Since then, Elfman has named one cue in each of his scores “Wheepy Donuts.” This was revealed in a Film Score Monthly interview concerning “The Family Man.” The track titles on the commercial albums are sometimes different than what Elfman had originally named them to in order to give the customer a better idea of where it appeared in the film as well as to clean up the dirty language, hence the lack of “Wheepy Donuts” on most of his albums and the absence of another favorite title, “What the ****!”
