GuestI know we’ve had a lot of “what’s your favorite Elfman score” topics lately…so here’s another one! No, actually, it’s different. What’s your favorite Elfman cue (or track or whatever you wanna call it)? How about you give at least five since there’s so many to name, and they don’t have to be necessarily in order of which one you like more. Here’s mine in no particular order:
Spider-Man – Main Titles, Farewell (the finale part), and End Credits (I wish it was longer)
Batman Returns – Rooftops/Wild Ride part 2 (at the end with that awesome climax of the Batman theme)
The Nightmare Before Christmas – Christmas Eve Montage
Batman – Attack of the Batwing (the part with the constant ringing of the church bell)
Darkman – High Steel (screaming horns! You know what I talking about.)
Men In Black – Finale
Planet of the Apes – Main Title Deconstruction
Hulk – Making Me Angry (I feel a sudden urge to headbang at 3:11)Heheh, I put 10. Oh well, there’s mine.

GuestI agree. Elfman’s second score is much MUCH more superior to his first.

GuestWell, I muss say I totally agree. Batman returns will always remain my favourite elfman abum. There are so many thematic elements, and it’s so well written. The Ouverture sounds just like a classical piece. So dramatic and dark…
I love the original Batman too, but it’s not as mature as the second one.Eric

GuestOut of a big list, I adore “Carnival Underground from “Nightbreed”.
It gives me chills everytime I listen to it…June 21, 2004 at 11:46 pm #50823Anonymous
GuestI’ve only heard Nightbreed stuff from his first MfaDT album. I really need to get the whole score. It’s one of the few I don’t have.

GuestNot a fair question really, but I mean, I guess probably his most effective cue’s emotionally, like as in lump in your throat, misty eyed stuff, I mean The Grand Finale from Edward Scissorhands has got to be the most effective and same with Finale from Big Fish, which is similar yet very diffrent, but both are truely wonderful.

GuestThe last track from the Family Man score is one of my favorites. It almost gets me to cry, and that’s very rare for me. Extremely emotional cue, possibly his most emotional cue in my opinion.
I’m just in love with the whole score.
