GuestNP : DAREDEVIL score by Graeme Revell. And yes, I like it, and yes, I’m perfectly normal elseway. I assume my addiction to Graeme Revell’s music with total serenity.
… Even though, as you can imagine, the said addiction isn’t even half as high as my devotion to Danny’s scores.

GuestHeh. WOW. I find it funny that none of us are listening to Elfman right now! Odd, if you ask me. Maybe I’ll go listen to POTA … That sounds good.
I need a good soundtrack shower after having to listen to that filthy goddam radio all day. If I have to listen to ONE more p-diddy/diddy-pop/ja-daddy-pop/M&Ms group again, I’ll kill something!!But that’s getting off the subject.

GuestHowdy Burt, how did you get the music of Samurai Jack, I wasn’t aware of even a composer promo? Input, need input…

Now Playing: “Flubber” does that help Dantz?

GuestNat:
Composer Jim Venable’s got a site with some short samples of his work on it at http://www.venablemusic.com. They’re only like a minute and a half each, but it’s better than nothing, I suppose.
I gotta say, Venable’s a seriously talented fella. The ethnic stuff in Samurai Jack is really intense, especially the percussion. (Poking around his site, I noticed that he was a percussion major in university, so that makes sense.)
Groove on,
BurtNow Playing: John Zorn – “Tex Avery directs the Marquis de Sade”. Ever wonder what would happen if Carl Stalling got possessed by the devil? Check it out.

GuestThanks for the info Cowboy Burt.
I agree with you on Venable’s music. I even liked his music in “Jay and Silent Bob Strikes Back”, but listening to the CD outside of the movie is a little disjointed because of the pacing and short running times of the tracks (this is due to the nature of the film itself).
His work for Samurai Jack deserves a comercial CD release.
Is “Iron Monkey” worth getting?Nat

GuestNat:
I also dug the J&SBSB score. I thought it was a cool mix of styles, and what’s more, he managed to simulate an orchestra with a really large big band, and I think that’s awesome. Venable is the guy whose music you put on when someone just won’t stop telling stupid drummer jokes.
As for “Iron Monkey”, I haven’t seen it, nor have I heard the soundtrack. I listened to the samples on Venable’s site, and I like ’em – they appear to have more of that ethnic stuff from him that I like – but I can’t tell you any more than that. I’ll have to rent the movie one of these days.
Peace,
