ParticipantI think that is what Mr. Elfman needs, not because is doing a bad work, but because he needs some rest, all his work from 5 years to date (yes, i’m waiting Charlie) seem a little repetitive, i dont know that is how i feel, of course there are refreshing things like POTA or Hulk, but i think something is missing from the old days (Edward Scissorhands, Dolores Claiborne, etc.)

ParticipantI dunno… the only repetetive thing that I think Danny did was Red Dragon… as good as it was i just couldn’t tell one track from the next.

ParticipantPerhaps he will produce a solo record while on vacation … Hey, it could happen … right? … RIGHT?!
Ok, maybe not. But I can dream.

ParticipantIf it’s Elfman’s style you are referring to, I’m sorry but that has changed permanently. I’m not necessarily saying that he’s better or the worse now, he’s just different. Yes I’ll admit some works that have been squeezed into very small time frames have had similarities (for instance I personally feel that Spider-man and MIIB sound very similar, possibly due to orchestration, even if the main themes are completely different). I am presently a bit concerned from the little that I have heard thus far that “Charlie” will not seem to be all that far removed form “Big Fish” (although this is simply speculation on my part). One must remember that two artistic expressions will always cary underlining similarities if they are done while in the same frame of mind. This stated however, I have never known Danny to carry over a theme from one unrelated film to another (he isn’t Horner). If the man should decide to take a break after Corpse Bride (although as far as I know he’s booked) , good for him. He has been rather busy lately. I would not however go so far as to say he NEEDS a vacation though. I like when he’s busy. We get more work out of him.
By the way it has taken me the past three months or so to figure out that I needed to sign in to post here. I just today noticed the “Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum” notation at the bottoms of these pages. I was startin’ to suspect that no one loved me. Boo-hoo! And to think I call myself computer literate.
