ParticipantWell, I had heard about this on IMDB’s boards (not the most reliant source I might add
) and apparently it’s been a going around for sometime…..BUT!
http://www.batmanbegins.info has been tracking this for sometime and reports on January 16th 2005 :
“Update on the earlier SE Bat-film news from earlier today. A source contacted me and said that Tim Burton recorded his commentary tracks for both his Bat-films while he was working on Wonka. No re-cut of the Burton films, but there will be some work on the soundtrack.”Freezedriedmovies.com reports (taken from http://www.batman-on-film.com/b5news.html)
“This comes from a trusted source which comes from their trusted source – sort of how it works sometime. Anyway, he provided me with a bit more info on the upcoming SE’s of the first four WB BATMAN films –
• BATMAN and BATMAN RETURNS have been finished for a while now. Tim Burton re-recorded his commentary tracks with a “guest.” Seems he thought his original commentary was too boring.
• Regarding those films, they’ll look like this: Disc 1 – Remastered picture and sound with Commentary. Disc 2 – Trailers, TV Spots, Vintage footage and a new featurette on the film. BATMAN is expected to get the most treatment with a feature length documentary. BATMAN RETURNS will feature Jett from BATMAN ON FILM breaking down why it sucks as bad as BATMAN AND ROBIN [Sorry, couldn’t resist – Jett]. “
Now, does anyone else know about this – any truth to it?

ParticipantI agree with Ryan.
Batman Returns has one of the best opening sequence!!!
Elfman’s single cue not only covers the intro, but both Batman and Penguin’s theme. Definitely one of my favourite.rex

ParticipantActually, it’s true. Tim Burton recorded his commentaries during the filming of Charlie and the Chocolate Facotory and a few days ago, Batman On Film posted the first photos of the packaging which looked really cool. The link I have is not working anymore but I could e-mail them to anyone who’s interested.

KeymasterI checked batman-on-film.com, and they now say the BATMAN SE DVD artwork was fake.

ParticipantPirate, even though the artwork was fake, I’d still like to see it.

ParticipantWell, thedigitalbits.com [which is a very reliable source] posted that these SE were announced for Region 2 and they are coming out just before Batman Begins.

ParticipantI was just thinking the other day how i wish they would hurry up and make special editions of at least the first two Batman movies(I dont really care what they do with the last two)! So i REALLY hope this rumor is true! The specs seem like it would belong to a real DVD though the Jack Nicholson commentary sounds a bit iffy! These specs sound like a kick ass DVD! And whos this fuck Jett talking down about Batman Returns! That was a great film! Its one of Burtons more Burtony films! I HOPE THIS IS TRUE!

ParticipantGod, I’d be surprised if they DIDN’T make a special edition, especially since there’s a new Batman movie coming out. It’s probably 99% true, I’d say.

ParticipantI hope your right! Makes sense though, right?

ParticipantTwo very important (and very reliable) french websites proposed a news today about upcoming special editions of the first four films, so I guess it’s almost official now. The bad news is that one of them mentionned that only the first film will be released on its own; to get Batman Returns SE, we’ll have to buy the entire set with Batman 3 & 4….

ParticipantThat’s marketing for ya!
February 4, 2005 at 10:42 am #53432elfmanguy
ParticipantYou gotta be fucking kidding me! It doesnt even make sense to sell Returns separate from the first and and packed with the last two! In fact they should sell the first and tghe last two separately! But you know, im sure they will sell all of them separately anyway! Thats the logical answer!
