ParticipantHi,
I read in Film Score Monthly Online that Elfman had a song cut from Corpse Bride; the title was “Erased.” Does anyone know if that song will be on the DVD in a few weeks? Maybe in the making of stuff?

ParticipantHow fitting. Erased was erased.

Corpse Bride
Danny Elfman
If one vintage Elfman score wasn’t enough for you this year, there’s this little gem—an intimate study in duality. Here the composer returns to his storybook style to collide the world of the living (stuffy Victorian reserve) and the dead (hang-loose Dixieland cabaret). The four gentle songs will garner the most attention, but it’s Elfman’s Beethoven-esque main theme, upon which the score spins endless variations, that’s the most moving tune in the piece.FYI: Elfman wrote a fifth song for Corpse Bride, entitled “Erased,” which, sadly, never made it to either the land of the living or dead.

ParticipantVery interesting…
I wonder who would’ve sung it. Or where it would have been placed in the movie.

ParticipantI think it was sung by Johnny Depp. I read that but don’t ask me where…

ParticipantOr where it would have been placed in the movie.
Perhaps the sequence wasn’t animated, or, partly animated, then dropped for whatever reason.

Toronto Coverage: Elfman and Johnson on Corpse Bride
Author: Stephanie Sanchez
Q: Is there some kind of calculation you use?
Johnson: No, it’s just giving them the time and the resources to work at that level. It just comes down to their experience and their talent.
Q: Given that Victor is the protagonist of the film and he does play piano, did he ever have a vocal song as well?
Elfman: He had a song, but it didn’t make the final cut. Things got a little long, and his song got cut.
Q: Did Johnny do the vocals?
Elfman: No, we were just… it was getting to that point when the song was cut. Just before he had to go into the studio — probably much to his relief. <<
