GuestGet ready fans, because Danny Elfman is reportedly replacing Mychael Danna on THE HULK, according to Music From The Movies!

GuestOh, come on. Do we actually believe this? Is there any official confirmation?
March 30, 2003 at 12:18 am #44561Anonymous
GuestUsually Ryan only posts these things if his source is pretty reliable. (Because he doesn’t want to make an ass of himself on his site.) And he’s usually one of the most skeptical when anyone else posts an unconfirmed rumor.
So if it’s coming from him, I think it’s probably going to happen! Hurrah!

GuestHoly jeez.

GuestThe Hulk? … Why am I not so excited about this?
March 30, 2003 at 2:25 am #44564Anonymous
GuestI thought it was an early April Fools joke when I first saw it.
March 30, 2003 at 3:53 am #44565Anonymous
GuestDan Goldwasser (from soundtrack.net) confirms that there has been a regime change on THE HULK: Danny Elfman will record his score at the end of April.

GuestWell, I suppose I’m feeling sorry for the boy….I mean, it’s great Danny’s doing the music and all–but, isn’t it kinda late in the process of composing and such? I’m thinking Danny’s gonna be having a very busy schedule for the next few weeks!
Nya! Alonso is back….so, how many corpses did you get?

GuestHi, could you tell me what kind of film it will be, At first I thought of HULK (Hogan lol !!!) I’m little afraid, is it going to be an action movie ? …
March 30, 2003 at 6:14 am #44569Anonymous
GuestHULK doesn’t open until June 20th, so there’s plenty of time to score the film.
As far as this being “confirmed”, check out my HULK page on the site. Music From The Movies, a print magazine, broke the news. As far as I’m concerned, thats a strong, credible source.

GuestNice, it means the next super-hero-crappy movie with I suppose brilliant, unique music. SPLENDID
But anyway II can’t wait to HEAR it …March 30, 2003 at 10:07 am #44571Anonymous
Guesti’m happy of course. But too bad for Danna. Not that i’m a fan of his work but why don’t let other composers a chance ? Williams, Elfman, Shore, etc, i love them but sometimes there’s need of change !
March 30, 2003 at 12:00 pm #44572Anonymous
Guesti wonder if Larry Franco had anything to do with Elfman being chosen… Franco has produced a number of Burton films, including Batman Returns and Sleepy Hollow…
March 30, 2003 at 2:41 pm #44576Anonymous
GuestYou’re right; that’s pretty darn convincing. I didn’t mean to be skeptical, but… well, sometimes it’s hard not to be when it comes to the possibility of a new Elfman score! I think we’ve all been disappointed too many times in the past about an Elfman scoring rumor that ended up falling through the cracks.
March 30, 2003 at 6:54 pm #44578Anonymous
GuestElfman likely got the job because the film is produced by MARVEL, the same company that produced SPIDER-MAN last year and will produce SPIDER-MAN 2 in the immediate future. They must have liked his score for that film or at least seen the commercial potential in his music, and signed him up.
As for confirmation, it’s 100%, no question about it, bet your ass, verifiably accurate. As I said earlier, Dan Goldwasser (from http://www.soundtrack.net) confirmed it. He was at a scoring session for X-MEN 2 on Friday (also a MARVEL picture) and quietly got the news from several people including music contractor Debbie Datz and publicist Ray Costa. It all went down a few days ago, apparently. My hats off to MUSIC FROM THE MOVIES for getting the news out so fast.

GuestHmm, I wonder….
This could be very bad my friends, very bad…
It’s great the we are gonna get yet another awesome score by Mr. Elfman, but damn, he is gonna get pegged for this, I know it. I can just see the line on Elfman’s grave now: “Danny Elfman, the superhero film composer”.Knight (Grrrrr)
March 30, 2003 at 9:15 pm #44580Anonymous
Guestknight, you forgot :
Danny Elfman, the superhero film composer – and he wrote the Simpsons theme too !
March 30, 2003 at 10:03 pm #44581Anonymous
GuestI think it’s all kinda funny. How did they approach him? I’m sorry Mr. Elfman, we’re all out of Superman right now, but we’ve had a Hulk become recenly available. Could we interest you in that?
Ok, I’m a little bummed about this one because I really hadn’t planned on seeing this movie. I don’t like when he scores things that I’m not interested in seeing.

GuestI’m overjoyed. Elfman’s comic book scores are always fantastic. It’s either this or the long wait ‘till Big Fish.
March 31, 2003 at 12:54 am #44585Anonymous
GuestYeah, the big E has scored a ton of comic book flicks, but you have to admit, he’s pretty good at it.
This is really good news. I mean, Danna’s cool and everything, but come on…

GuestReally cool!!!! Odd… I am happier today after reading the news than yesterday after my girlfriend said yes (well, sort of…) when I proposed her…
March 31, 2003 at 3:13 am #44588Anonymous
GuestOh, I love Elfman’s action scores! I am just worried that he is gonna get pegged as a superhero film composer (some say he already was). I’ll bet it’s gonna be an awesome score.
Reza: Congrats!….um, sort of???
I guess Elfman might be glad people are talking about putting something besides the Simpsons theme on his Tombstone hehe.
Knight (I have to admit, I am still looking forward to Big Fish more…)
