A band from Chicago called The Countdown did a great cover of “Kidnap the Sandy Claws”.
Their website is http://www.thecountdown.net

December 16, 2004 at 9:37 am #53006AnonymousGuestWhat do you all mean? It’s a classic. At 3:30am on New Year’s Day, when levels of leftover mulled wine reach higher than blood sugar in my system, this song will send me into paroxysms of ecstasy. And can’t you feel the passion and committment they put into it? Gosh, how could you be such poor judges of taste…
December 16, 2004 at 4:12 pm #53008AnonymousGuestOn a similiar note, Lee Press-on did a cover of “The Oogie Boogie Song” (Sadly, on synthesizer since his band is now defunct) that he posted on his web site.
He used to be the head of a great gothic swing band from the west coast, and is clearly a huge Elfman/Burton fan (He actually thanks Danny and Tim in the linear notes of his first album). Again, you can feel the passion, but it’s too bad that there were no real musicians playing the background. As a fan of his work, I should say this isn’t his usual quality, but I do strongly reccomend his previous albums for those who would like to see Danny Elfman’s style applied to jazz and swing music. Twisted, yet satisfying.

December 17, 2004 at 7:24 pm #53014AnonymousGuestI thought it was hilarious. They obviously did it for fun.
Not many folks would attempt that….
I like it cause it was totally weird and unexpected.December 17, 2004 at 9:18 pm #53016Spider-FanParticipantNot many people would do that because they know that if Danny ever ran into them, their asses would receive many a kicking. Or maybe that’s just me.
December 17, 2004 at 10:36 pm #53017Untamed AggressionParticipantWas anyone else reminded of “Money” by the Flying Lizards?
December 17, 2004 at 10:54 pm #53018Untamed AggressionParticipantThe Oogie Boogie cover doesn’t really do anything with the song, like the Sandy Claws track, however uncalled for. It’s basically the original version, but synth.
