Danny Elfman confirmed on KCRW that he is scoring MEN IN BLACK III. The film hits theaters May 25, 2012. This will be Danny’s first trilogy of scores!

(He also confirms DARK SHADOWS [duh], FRANKENWEENIE [duh], and Sam Raimi’s GREAT & POWERFUL OZ). Listen here: http://www.kcrw.com/media-player/mediaPlayer2.html?type=audio&id=mbe

Has he already wrote for The Hunger Games then?

Good to know. My most anticipated Elfman score next year.

I can tell you this about Huger Games, Steve Bartek told me on November 5th, that he was still waiting for music from Danny on Hunger Games.

    Finally, an Elfman trilogy.

Budget is $215M, I believe that’s the biggest ever for an Elfman film.

I think “Spider-Man 2” and “Alice in Wonderland” were in the same ballpark.

Yeah both of those had budgets of $200M.

Here are the first two posters for MIB3. They may induce dizziness.

Recently, I read that Danny was still working on the Dark Shadows score. I guess he must be multi-tasking.

As far as I heard, Danny is supposed to begin recording of Dark Shadows in London at the end of February.

That means Danny wrote the music already. He multi-tasked both scores and is recording them back-to-back.

So Josh Brolin is supposed to play a younger version of Tommy Lee Jones. A 40 year younger Jones….and he’s only, like, 20 years younger in real life?! That’s sci fi right there! And where’s Rip Torn?

Loved the funky Elfman theme at the end there, though.

Two of the cues are from the previous scores — “City Chase” and “The Suit”, howevever “Men at Work” and “Doomed” sound new.

I’m not sure, but I think I remember hearing cues that were a lot like “Men at Work” and “Doomed” in the mix of the first movie… meaning unreleased cues that weren’t on the CD.

Pitbull is doing the theme song this time.

John, they may be from MIB, but they’re definitely not from MIB2. Or at least that I can tell.

I know you’re all super excited for Pitbull’s song, so wait no more.

With all the negative feedback this song’s getting hopefully it’ll be absent on the score album. Assuming Sony will release a score album.

I’m more annoyed that it took the cool artwork with J and the two K’s. We’re going to be stuck with that headache-inducing first poster.
