    Hi everyone

I have uploaded segments of an interview with Danny Elfman at :

    http://motionmusic.tripod.com/seminar.html

It’s taken from the 2CD set I bought from the Society of Composers & Lyricists Seminar Series. This is an opportunity to hear Mr. Elfman’s story and experience in his own words, told with engaging honesty and philosophical humor. The interview was conducted by SCL member, Jerry Grant.

It’s currently uploaded on a free server, so it might not work well when there’s too many downloads happening at the same time.
If you like to hear more, I’ll try to find more server space.

I know it is wrong to do this but I am mainly doing it for educational purposes and to all of you who love Elfman’s music.

Hope I won’t get into trouble for doing this ; )

    Thanks for the post.

Oddly enough, all this material can be heard on the Apes and Pee-wee commentaries.

It’s too bad that uploading something like that is ‘wrong,’ but I am totally thankful nonetheless. That was perhaps the most talkative I’ve ever seen him when discussing his technique, and maybe being in front of a room of fellow composers made him relax and open up a bit more.

Thanks a lot for bringing this to the forum.

That was a really informative lecture! I loved the Batman 747 story. I know he used the bucket-in-well comparison on the Spider-Man 2 DVD. Also I think that’s the first time I’ve ever heard him mention his ex-wife, in a humorous way here.

I wonder why I can only hear it and not see it.

    Hi

I ‘ve added more on the same URL:

    http://motionmusic.tripod.com/seminar.html

One is where Elfman Talks about mixes and Dubs,
and the other 2 on Nightmare Before Christmas.

    Enjoy!

PS: Although they are all in Quicktime format, there’s only audio.
I tried uploading the .mp3 format on the free server but somehow it did’nt work.

Excellent stuff–Elfman raw and uncut. When do you think this was recorded? Certainly after 1997 because he mentions Men in Black.

It was recorded in February 17, 1999.

There’s more but I am trying to find more server space to upload for all of you.
Elfman also touches upon subjects such as communicating with directors, his transition from the acoustic world to the MIDI world.

    Sorry everyone

    I knew this would happen.
The new link will be gone as well.
Download it fast before it is gone!!!
It is just a matter of time.

Too bad, I have violated Tripod’s Terms of Service.
I guess I will stop posting the rest :(
