I was in HMV the other day buying DAWN OF THE DEAD and ED WOOD on DVD and decided to pick up the new Jimmy Eat World CD ‘Futures’ and the new Massive Attack soundtrack for DANNY THE DOG when I sampled Bruno Coulais’ score for LES CHORISTES, a 2004 French film that revolves around a boy’s school choir. I was almost knocked on my ass by the score which features – get this – a boy’s choir…

The moment we hear the boys’ choir, the image shows a school covered with snow; hard not to think of Edward Scissorhands…
Hopefully, the rest of Coulais’ score doesn’t go on in that direction; it’s mainly for the sequence I mention.By the way, the soundtrack is a huge hit in France and Belgium so the boys’ choir is still a pretty popular style…
November 11, 2004 at 12:28 am #52761AnonymousGuestYeah, I knew of Bruno Coulais from the Winged Migration soundrack (which, by the way, should be in everyone’s collection), and i downloaded a couple of the songs from Les Choristes. They really do sound like Danny Elfman.
