ParticipantHehe.
I have a Compaq (which is also HP nowadays) laptop, and it was so bogged down with crap, that I decided to wipe the whole thing and reinstall Windows, with SP2 this time. It works great.
But don’t worry, Ryan, I realize you’re definitely not alone.

KeymasterI may have to end up doing that… Only problem is that I have to recover my system first to get to my files, and I can’t recover until I figure out what my administrator password is… Despite the fact that I never logged in as an administrator or set a password!

ParticipantI don’t think my Commodore 64 will allow me to install such things. I can, however, play 6 games of Ghostbusters before it crashes.

ParticipantI recently had to format my hard disk and one of the reason was that I installed SP2 when Windows Update asked me to. Never listen to what Bill says !
For a sec, I thought you were speaking of Spider-Man 2…

ParticipantI’m still using Windows 98 and there is no reason for me to change (yet). No problems with 98, or at least none that I couldn’t fix.

GuestHey Nat, snap! I really must try to track down Win 98 SE, though – I’m told it’s a bit less buggy. We benefit by the fact that everyone now writes viruses for broadband XP users (who presumably own HP PCs that aren’t over 6 years old). I checked a month ago, and it seems my system has never had a virus or mischievious installation – heck, even I have difficulty getting to my personal data and loading webpages. I’d hate to have the headache any hacker would suffer if he chose me as victim. :o)
