ParticipantFrankly, there were TOO many kids at the showing I went to.
No, not too many kids … too many INFANTS. In particular, there were two fully-grown responsible females near the front who had a squalling infant with them, and instead of taking the brat out(!) they passed him back and forth in vain attempts to quiet him.
People, either skip the movie or pay a babysitter, but don’t selfishly ruin everyone else’s viewing experience by bringing along someone who is far too young to (A) sit quietly, and (
have developed any brain capacity to enjoy a movie anyway.
But to answer your question, the show I saw had all ages.

ParticipantIt’s a difference between “getting” and “liking.” I understood Depp’s motivation for his character — I just felt it was all wrong for the movie. It was awful, in fact. This new CATCF does nothing to unseat the Gene Wilder version on my video shelf.

ParticipantSo am I the only one that really, really, really despised Johnny Depp’s choice of character? Or the fact that John August ruined Wonka’s enigmatic personality by attempting to explain it through weak flashbacks that brought the story to a screeching halt?
Other than that, I liked it — which means it was hard to like it because once they get to the factory, Willy Wonka is so ever-present.
While I thought the songs were cute, I did find the lyrics extremely hard to comprehend through all the electronic modifications the vocal track went through.
I won’t post all my comments here. Find my full film review at:
