ParticipantSounds way more like one of his score than I thought…

ParticipantIt reminds me of “Serenada Schizophrana.”

ParticipantThe music is very good but I thought he sang in some parts.

ParticipantThere’s a pre-show “turn-off-your-phone-and-no-pictures” song that he does indeed sing. That’s the only part where you hear his voice, however (as least as far as I could tell).

ParticipantSomeone pointed me to this :

Movie Studio anyone ?
That’s why it sounded so familiar !October 20, 2011 at 6:34 am #67263TenderLumpling
ParticipantI’ve been listening to this so much. He covers so many styles. I wish he did one of these every year!

ParticipantIt is indeed one of his best work to date. 2011 was very light in terms of Elfman scores but this one is surely worth two or three scores all together !

ParticipantI would love to hear that “turn off your cellphone” song.

ParticipantCirque are giving a “unique and exclusive” performance at the Oscars and Elfman will write the music.

ParticipantSo….NEW music and not merely an excerpt from the IRIS show?
February 20, 2012 at 6:01 pm #67389John Mullin
ParticipantI’m 1000% convinced that whatever they do will be either a reworking of an existing piece for the show or a flat out reuse from the show.
February 27, 2012 at 1:05 pm #67396DannyBiker
ParticipantSo…what was it ? Which piece ?

KeymasterSeems like it was a short suite. The big choral moment from the middle of “Movie Studio” was definitely in there. I was just blown away by seeing my childhood icon Kermit the Frog say “Danny Elfman”.

KeymasterWatch the Oscars perf — with Kermit’s intro!

ParticipantThat was amazing. Probably the best thing to happen that night. I wish I could see the entire show.

ParticipantThat is awesome. He has such a great voice, it’s a shame he doesn’t use it more often.
May 31, 2012 at 8:58 am #67543DannyBiker
ParticipantI heard rumors saying that he talks quite often…
June 19, 2012 at 9:50 pm #67552Thor
ParticipantI just booked tickets for this at the Kodak Theatre at the end of August.
Can’t wait!!!

ParticipantI just wish they would tour…but they won’t
Any word on the Blu-Ray ?

ParticipantWow, I saw the show two weeks ago! What a fantastic experience, probably the best live performance I’ve ever seen. Elfman’s music has always been on/off for me on the album, but it was magnificent in context, esp. the busy music for the whole studio lot thingie (which I don’t like alone, but which teems with energy alongside the acrobatics).
If you live in the area and haven’t seen it yet, I recommend to do so as soon as you can. It can’t be going on much longer?

ParticipantCorteo has been on tour for 7 years now. Iris won’t tour at all but I’m sure it will stick around for a while…such a big production needs at least 3 years to be profitable (and quite profitable if you’re the Cirque du Soleil).
