    Hello!

    I’ve often been on this site but have finally signed up.
    I was wondering of any of you could help me.. I’m desperately looking for quotes… or any examples of people dissing Danny’s compositional style/process for an essay I’m writing.
    It’s due in on Friday lol!!
    Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you very much! :)

    There was an awesome letter that Danny wrote to some snobby-ass professor in some college that critiqued his lack of education negatively in some magazine article. I just can’t remember where I found it. Someone here is bound to know where it is.

    I never saw that letter before! Wow, don’t piss Danny off or he will intelligently take you down! A few funny things said 15 years ago…

    ” Film composition is a unique art with unique requirements. It is not the same as writing a symphony-something I’ve never professed to be able to do.” Think Rubenstein is crying in a corner now?

    “…having worked my ass off for 12 to 14 hours a day, seven days a week, for a month and a half to write that score and yes, you dumb fuck, I actually wrote it down-I will not sit back passively and allow myself to be discredited for the work I did by an idiot who mistakenly thinks that I lazily hire people to do it for me, or that only a conservatory can produce a real film composer.” Like I said, don’t piss him off! I don’t care what anyone says, he’s the coolest guy ever.

    If you get either Danny Elfman’s Batman: A Film Score Guide, or Clowns of Death: A History of Oingo Boingo, you can read the letter in its entirety.

    Priced-to-move at Amazon. Though, truth-be-told, they are quite expensive.
