ParticipantThis was a very silly movie.
Fun… but very daft.

ParticipantThis and The Circle seem like solo Elfman gigs. No additional composers listed.

ParticipantThe Reznor comparisons had me worried but this is the ‘dreamy synth’ Elfman I love.
I imagine the ‘film music community’ will shun this but it sounds right up my street.

ParticipantThe lone creative element to command coercive interest here is Elfman’s score, which employs sonic currents of tonal irregularities, pulsations and mood instigators rather than melodies, typical tension tropes or any of his trademark gambits from the Tim Burton collaborations. He almost makes the film seem good from time to time.

ParticipantHopefully I like it better on album. I did think the last cue was lovely.

ParticipantFun movie but Elfman was sorely missed.
Sounds like much less talented people trying to be Elfman. Not a bad score by any stretch of the imagination but lacking Elfman’s talent for melody.

Doesn’t sound like it’ll be a Hermann-esque score anyway.

ParticipantBreaking my self-imposed internet lockdown to say that the score is apparently very electronic ala Trent Reznor and that Luke Evans was gushing about the score on an interview I saw on tv about a week ago.
Also, the album has an ‘explicit lyrics’ warning. Which might explain why Elfman was recording with that heavy metal artist.

ParticipantNot upset, curious as to why Danny is recording vocals with the lead of a heavy metal band.

ParticipantThe movie has been delayed again so the CD release will probably be delayed…again.

Some of the music I thought was Elfman was evidently The Newton Bros. Fair play, some of it is really quite nice.
None of Elfman’s music is on the leaked album.

‘featuring new track by Danny Elfman…’
The Newton Bros said Elfman wrote a 12 minute track ages ago but that doesn’t seem to correlate with the album that’s already online.

ParticipantChris Bacon is now listed as scoring the entire series.
I guess there was a schedule conflict and Elfman suggested Bacon.

ParticipantRecording this week in New York.
Here’s some photos of the set-up https://www.facebook.com/JimFlynnRentals/posts/1066923353392058
I remember Desplat talking about recording in New York once. I think it was for Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close.

ParticipantGuillermo Del Toro’s next film is screaming for an Elfman score.

ParticipantElfman crew starting to add this movie to their resumes and whatnot. Crisis averted!

ParticipantI don’t know anything about this sort of stuff but surely that’s sorted way in advance? The movie was spotted two months ago.
If he has left the project hopefully Taylor goes back to Newman. No Jackman!

ParticipantHere’s a bigger version. Definitely no Elfman credit, which is really weird no? I wonder if he’s being/has been replaced.

ParticipantI’ve tried a dozen times and I can’t make it 20 minutes into Big Top Pee Wee.

ParticipantIt is!
Incidentally the last two Twilight scores he did were terrific.
