ParticipantOh guys… I live in the other side of the world (well not that much, but yes very far). It’s simply imposible me to go there. If you meet Danny, give him greetings from fan in a far country called Andorra. I know he won’t mind at all, but, hehe, it would be great

ParticipantWell, since i’m a musician, i think i will enjoy it. If a non musician has enjoyed it, i’m pretty sure i will.
Thank you KWashi!

ParticipantI’m sure Danny would do a great job scoring The Simpsons again, but it’s Alf Clausen the one that should get that job. Unfortunately, the film scoring business is so big that I don’t think that some signatures could change anything…I’m sure they (whoever) have offered it to Danny first. Have you thought he maybe refused this job?

PS: As I said in other post, i’m sure Hans Zimmer will do a great music. He is simply an amazing composer.

ParticipantI know that keyboard and it’s quite useful, but i think that it’s important for you the weighted keys option. For this I would recomend Yamaha P-90. The problem is that it hasn’t the pitch bend and modulation controllers (but remember that you can program it on the computer, but not the weighted keys).
If this option is not good for you, try on Kurzweil (all these keyboards i’m talking about are not master keyboards, usually they have some sound programs available). You can find the SP-88X. This is a GREAT keyboard with great piano sound, weighted keys and pitch and modulation (ribbon) controler. BUT, this is an expensive keyboard. Maybe about 1350$, not very expensive compared with PC2 or K2600 but, you were looking for a master keyboard…
I hope this will be useful for you.

ParticipantI don’t know what happened with Danny for not accepting doing this score (in case they offered it to him). The fact is that I love Hans Zimmer’s music, but it’s a very different style from Danny’s. I’m sure he will do a great work, but never as good as Danny should have done in this case…

ParticipantHello!!
I’ve been studying some stuff about Film music. It’s true that Danny elfman is a self-taugh musician, and when Tim Burton asked him to do Peewee’s Adventure score, he inmediately asked Steve Bartek (Guitar player from Oingo Boingo band) to do some orchestrations due to his unknowledge on orchestration. In fact, Steve had just taken only some lessons in the UCLA for that time. Both learnt how to manage every project they worked in…But the fact that a composer use an orchestrator is totally usual in this bussiness due to the extremely short time they usually have to create all music. They use to have 3 months(in a lucky film schedule) to create about 2 hours of music for orchestra. This means creating music for more than 80 musicians playing at the same time. They are helped by the orchestrator, the music editor, other composers or even the director!! There’s no time for jamming and all stuff you create must be the good one!! So, all composers, and i’ve said ALL, use orchestrators and other people to help them. For example, a music genius like John Williams, a master in music (armony, orchestration and music syncronization with video), when he created “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” score, the orchestration was done by Conrad Pope, and John Williams knows how to do it, but maybe there wasn’t enough time…
After 20 years on a full time dedication to film scoring, I think Danny Elfman knows exactly what he want to listen in the final soundtrack, even if he’s helped by Steve Bartek or not…
