ParticipantYep, not going to happen.

ParticipantGave it a listen. You know I’m not a fan of the first score but boy, did Elfman managed to deliver an even duller effort. It’s easily one of his worst score, I don’t see anything to save. The first film at least had a few interesting moments here and there but nothing of that sort here. It’s 42 minutes of “one-finger-telenovela-piano” with almost nothing that stands out. So boring that I really had to force myself to finish the all thing.
I’ll eventually buy the CD because I’m collecting his work but I’ll wait for a very agressive discount…

ParticipantYup, finally in as well. Feels already better !
DannyBiker
ParticipantI’ll believe it when I hear it…

DannyBiker
ParticipantThat’s an impressive jury !
DannyBiker
ParticipantI can’t wait to listen to this for a few days and then never again…
DannyBiker
ParticipantIf it’s not a problem, don’t hesitate to share your work with us, I’m sure we’re all be interested in reading it…

ParticipantThat’s the interview I was referring to : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1GP63-5rs4&index=9&list=PL7A2EC09F70675F0B
Was it for Good Will Hunting or To Die For ? Anyhow, that part in particular isn’t relevant for you but the rest of it might. But I’m not even sure it was recorded in its entirety…
DannyBiker
ParticipantI remember of a press interview at the time of the release (with terrible audio) but I could be wrong and I can’t seem to find it anyway…
DannyBiker
ParticipantSounds like the kind of Van Sant film that goes with an Elfman score.
DannyBiker
ParticipantYeah, it sounds more like a Burton joke than anything…
DannyBiker
ParticipantPlease, please, please, someone download it until it’s taken down. I can’t download such a large file right now (on vacation) and I’d be really disappointed to miss it. It sounds like a fantastic idea…
Edit : got it.
DannyBiker
ParticipantYeah I guess it’s pretty nice but where are Elfman’s hair and saliva’s samples ?
DannyBiker
ParticipantI think I’m pretty close to have the complete CD collection. Vinyl will be next but I don’t have any record player anyway. A part of me is still sad to not have invested in the Burton box set but it was apparently not very well built for its price and I didn’t have the money back then…
DannyBiker
ParticipantWow, got myself a copy as well. Thanks !
DannyBiker
ParticipantOh my god, an expanded Mission: Impossible ?? Are you trying to kill me ? Life will now feel tasteless until it’s released…
DannyBiker
ParticipantMan, dropping 40€ for a CD in 2016. I’ll only ever do it for the Elf…

ParticipantAs uninspiring as the projet sounds, I’m curious on how it will look like.

ParticipantCheck your email address…
Edit : about the promo, the harp at the beginning of “Change of Life” (no idea what it refers to, I’ve only seen bits of the film years ago) is absolutely lovely. I’m kind of sad he never brought back that musical phrase in latter scores to expand/explore it a bit further. Especially since he totally used one of the Family Man theme for the Spider-Man theme.

ParticipantYeah, I’ve been listening to it on Spotify and I can confirm that it is by far my favorite electronic/moody Elfman score. It’s minimal but not to the point of being bland or unpleasent to listen to without the images. And it definitely has thematic elements.
It almost makes up for the Miss Peregrine skip…
DannyBiker
ParticipantThat’s the impression I got but thank you for clearing that up.
DannyBiker
ParticipantWait…the release is a CD-R ?
DannyBiker
ParticipantWow, ambient/electronic Elfman generally bores me but this one does sound really interesting indeed.
Just preordered it on Amazon UK !
