Wow nice and unexpected. And 4 CDs !
I know there were recording sessions going around but it’s always nice to have an editorial work for that amount of music. Ready to order !

I’ll give it a few more tries, but it doesn’t click for me. To be honest, none of the previously released songs really had an impact on me either, just a few that I appreciated more. But I know that if it wasn’t for Danny, I wouldn’t have given them a second chance.
I was never a huge Boingo fan either however, so it’s no big surprise for me. I like their early stuff but past Weird Science, it became too much US FM Rock for my taste. And Big Mess leans more towards that second part of their carrier than the first (to make a shortcut).

That being said, the fact that such a huge fan of everything he does like myself doesn’t really like his rock stuff shows how versatile that guy is, even at his age.

    – Interviewer : “So, how was your childhood like ?”
    – Elfman : “Did I tell you about the time I was on the plane when the Batman theme came up to me ??”

Yup indeed, it was the 24 or 25. Anyway, we’re not too far off the album now…

I also understand now why it’s released on the 11th. Yes, I’m really not smart.

Yet another stinker for Danny in terms of reviews. He’s been on a roll since a few years now… 😀

    Nice, thanks for sharing !
We can only hope the second half of the year will see more projects finally being released/performed.

Well, this is his angriest yet :

I also realized just now why he releases the songs on the 11th of every month.
    I’m not a smart man.

Quite exciting, he hasn’t really worked on the sci-fi genre besides Planet of the Apes (and perhaps Mars Attacks!)

Ok, that one is my favorite of the three. More “on point” to my hears.
And what an adorably weird video.

Yeah, it’s something but not something really exciting. But who knows.

I guess we can expect Elfman’s writing the titles and perhaps a few cues or episodes but I imagine a more limited budget could also lead to a “cheaper” composer being hired.

It seems that he will be releasing a new track on the 11th every month “for a while”. So there will definitely be enough content for an album at some point…

First song is out on streaming platforms.

It’s…something ? I’ve never been huge fan of Elfman’s rock work to be honest so I don’t know.

Actually, he’s actually also saying that these tracks do not sound much like Elfman, so there’s that.

Ahah, this very track popped up in my Spotify “Discover weekly” playlist a few weeks ago and I thought the same thing ! A lot of “The Nightmare Before Christmas” in there too…
I also recently listened to a Brecht’s song (I think, can’t find it again) that was a very obvious source of inspiration of The Nightmare. I mean, all of the Threepenny Opera is a source of inspiration for it but that one in particular was almost note for note Jack’s Lament…

I hope they will publish it on their YouTube account.

This is Top 5 Elfman material for me, period. The elegance in the writing is incredible, the way his themes can blend into Shifrin’s The Plot theme and the variety of them. I listen intensively to this score for a week at least one a year.

Always funny to hear that Helena Bonham Carter comment’s story because I think I actually saw them exchanging indeed right before he entered the stage, as I could view part of the backstage from my seat.

As I said on FSM’s board, Elfman is on the starting blocks for a Raimi collaboration. So if Raimi gets the job and Elfman is available, it’s probably going to happen.

I mostly lost touch with Giacchino in the last decade after his fantastic 2000-2010 years but I will get the first film’s score a listen as it was mostly praised. You can count on Elfman to not include anything from his work however, I’m pretty sure.
