Has there ever been so much anger directed at a film composer before. People are furious…

Oh man, that big Batman theme statement is completely buried in the mix. So disappointing. The opening Batman cue goes on as well and there’s some good stuff missing there.

Movie was boring, though I liked Flash and Aquaman.

4:50 in the shorter ‘Tunnel Fight’ track. It plays later in that track too and in ‘The Final Battle’ and ‘Aquaman in Atlantis’.

Finding the online response to the score quite odd – from the film score community I mean. The action music in this is everything they clamour for and, now that they’ve got it, they don’t want it.

Expecting a lesser Force Awakens-style revision to happen soon with this one. There’s so much going on.

I really dig Aquaman’s motif and love that ‘Aquaman in Atlantis’ cue.

Watched an interview were Ezra Miller praised Elfman’s score – pretty cool.

The recording is off and the score would’ve benefitted more from a Justice League suite than the ‘Hero’s Theme’. Other than that, I’m smitten. I love when Elfman gets this dense. It’s a sibling to Hellboy II and I love that one.

This just gets better – there’s so much going on that it’s almost overwhelming.

I feel like it will reveal itself on multiple listens. Some of Elfman’s best action music here.

The Justice League theme isn’t very instant which will kill it for a lot of people, I think.

Oh, I really like the Steppenwolf track. Lord of the Rings via Hellboy II.

The mixing seems low. Aquaman’s motif is clearly playing at one point but I can’t hear it properly.

There are half a dozen clips out and they’re much better (regarding the score, the movie still looks weak).
    Case in point:

Why did I find that so funny?

    DCEU fans are mad…

This interview took place yesterday and Elfman says he only finished the score last week?

It’s anonymous. If someone had played that music to me and told me it was Zimmer’s latest protégé’s work, I would have believed it. There’s no colour, quirk or personality – there’s no Elfman. Even putting the music to the side, the recording is weak and a lot of it sounds like prelays.

The other cue has Elfman all over it but I thought he was going to run amuck with Williams’ theme but it’s use isn’t very interesting musically. We all love him for his melodic talent and it’s not on display here at all.

I’ll still see the movie/buy the score of course but, like DannyBiker, I’m not excited anymore.

Sound quality for the ‘Friends and Foes’ cue is better in this video.

I like the rhythm but it really is so disappointing to hear Elfman go RC. He often makes a big deal about trying to avoid it.

The other cue is better but I can’t get past the recording.

Elfman’s action music is always excellent…what’s going on?

These cues sound like demos too.

It’s really disappointing; I hope it’s not indicative of the rest of the score.

If that were the case, wouldn’t they be credited with ‘Additional Arrangements’ instead? They’re almost always credited with 50% of the cue on the BMI repertoire (apart from Alice) which suggests they had quite a bit to do. T.J. Lindgren posts all of the music he writes for Elfman on his soundcloud and they’re sometimes quite substantial.

Three additional composers listed on IMDB so far.

Hope this isn’t another Goosebumps/AoU situation were every other cue had another composer involved. I appreciate that the deadlines are tough but it makes Elfman seem like a brand as opposed to one composer. He, along with Beltrami, seems to need help more than any other non-RC composer, actually.

There’s at least a bit of heart in this one. The characters look fun too.

I wonder if Elfman’s now in the running to score Aquaman?

New trailer is a lot better than the others.
