so they had 2 VERY talented composers working on this great movie and this is the best they could do?
i like it and it sounds okay but i was expecting more from zimmer and newton. there was no memorable cue in all of that, just bland generic music that has been heard beforeslightly disapointed i guess
with apes they just told him that they wanted a “gladiator in space” type of score, and if you listen to the commentary elfman talks about how he hates it when they pressure him to do that.

hellboy (beltrami)burton admitted on the “apes” commentary that he wishes they had tried some more stuff with the music. so i guess he wasn’t that happy with it
i think it’s because most people don’t who they are. plus the studios will never allow raimi to get them, they’ll want better known composers
and ryan said that young WILL do the music and since he knows more about that kind of stuff i have no choice but beleive him
well his score for batman forever sucked. it was nothing but noise
his score for batman and robin on the other hand was pure genuisdepends on how they use it
first time i heard that elfman was using just brass, synthesizers and drums for planet of the apes i was doubtful, but elfman used it in a very nice wayoh really? that is ironic. too bad it won’t happen though
you know marco beltrami used to get coffee for Chris. Young back in the day
he said that on the “I-Robot” music only commentary. made me laugh since marco’s career has gone up and yong still can’t compose a decent themei think danny’s stereotyped more for his goofy scores than the his superhero scores
that’s why he “black beauty” and “dead presidents” i guess, to show people that he had rangei love ottman and all but i just don’t think he can handle the wall crawler.
apart from the jean grey theme X2 had a pretty bland scorejust my opinion though, i’m sure lots of people disagree
spiderman is not too big for silversti. most of the movies he works on are big budget hollywood crap, so he has a lot of experience in that sense.
john debney is better than young, but it’d be nice if they went with silversti and debney just like the way chris nolan went with zimmer and newton on batmanwell yeah ottman is kinda moving up in the wolrd of superhero scores, he’s doing “fantastic four” now and “superman” is coming up so he might be a great choice. but i don’t think he’ll do it or even raimi will consider picking him
i mean the only good music in X2 was the “jean grey” theme but apart from that it was pretty forgettable music.
maybe when he does a great job with fantastic four i may change my mind, but for now i don’t think he’s even worhty to wipe elfman’s bumi like Silversti’s style of composing, his score for “van helsing” was the only good thing about that movie
chris young already had a chance at a summer blockbuster with “The Core” and the music in that movie was bland, boring and cliche.
i honestly don’t know what raimi sees in himi don’t know zimmer and newton are pretty damn good, i’m guessing they’ll use a lot strings and percussion
so it’s official now? young is doing the 3rd one
i was hoping elfman and raimi will get back together or something but i guess that won’t happenmy prediction. they’ll use the themes elfman wrote but apart from that i don’t think they’ll keep anything else`
i personally can’t wait to hear what newton does with the new batman
guessing lots of strings since elfman used a lot of brass
