Is the score album in chronological film order? If not, what is the correct film order of the tracks? And where would “A Wonderful Awful Idea” would fit in the chronological film order of the tracklist? Since that track (for some odd reason) wasn’t included on the score album but released on the song album. Don’t mean to come off lazy or anything but I would greatly appreciate any input on the chronological film order of the score if anybody knew it. If not? No worries.
Very exciting news! Since I don’t own the original 1990 soundtrack, which has been long out of print.
Despite Keaton and DeVito reuniting with Burton I wasn’t planning on watching Dumbo in theaters. I’ll wait to rent it at my local library. Haven’t any in these Disney remakes and have increasingly grown tired of Burton’s reimaginings/remakes/adaptations for the past decade. He needs to do more indie fare (e.g. Big Eyes) and more original stories/films based from his imagination. Anyways I wonder if Dumbo being overshadowed by the human characters has anything do with Dumbo’s CGI eating up the film’s budget or not?
I figured this would get a CD release after Back Lot Music recently released pressed CDs of BlacKkKlansman, which was released digitally upon its theatrical release. Us Elfman fans have a lot to look forward to with Elfman CD releases next month e.g. The Grinch, Dumbo, and Eleven Eleven.
So I guess this means Elfman probably won’t be heavily involved with the score. Elfman will probably come up with the themes, while Bacon will be utilizing ’em as he’s taking over scoring duties. I hope that isn’t the case and that Elfman is more involved, but I don’t know with the & between both names most likely means Bacon will be contributing quite a bit for MIB:I.
Well Amazon US has the album listed as well, however they haven’t revealed the price yet. And at the moment the release date is slated for April 5 instead of late March. Looking forward to it regardless, but since this is being released by Sony Classical hopefully it’ll be a pressed CD instead of a CD-R.
Correct Baker announced his retirement about four years ago, but I’m still skeptical about Sony and Gray bringing Elfman on board.
Actually Men In Black International is more of a spin off than a reboot. Emma Thompson even returns as Agent O. Anyways I don’t think Elfman will return as composer because I’ve heard Rick Baker didn’t return to do the make up either. Don’t know if it was either because Baker wasn’t approached or interested. So it wouldn’t surprise me if Gray avoids hiring Elfman as well.
Yeah I caught that scene at the end of the recent Supergirl episode, which ended up being the highlight of an otherwise mundane episode. I wish they could’ve stayed true to the original red swirl trail and sound effect (of the 90s show) as he speeds away, but that’s minor nitpick. It was very surreal seeing John Wesley Shipp, who stilll looks great, in the Flash costume after nearly 30 years. I thought royalties to pay Elfman would prevent them from adapting his 90s Flash theme, but apparently not. Hopefully, Neely will also utilize and adapt Walker’s secondary theme as well.
Based off of the scores for Man Of Steel and Batman V Superman a noise-fest is exactly what Justice League would’ve gotten if Junkie XL hadn’t been replaced.
Besides the editing is there any differences between the 1990 Original Score Album and the “Unedited And Additional Original Score Cues”?
I haven’t seen the movie yet, which will more likely be a rental for me anyways, but I figured that would be the case with the score.
I agree. Elfman is a lot more versatile than Hollywood and his detractors give him credit for. Didn’t expect Elfman to take a synth approach with this score. I was expecting something between “Fifty Shades Of Grey” and “The Next Three Days”.
