ParticipantIt should include the entire score, in chronological order.
Alternates would be nice, but since the complete score runs just near 75 minutes (there’s about 20 minutes of unreleased music in the film, plus the 55 minutes on the album), I doubt the powers-that-be would shell out the $ for an extra disc just dedicated to some alternative cues. You never know though.
BATMAN RETURNS, however, would require 2 CDs and IMHO, needs a rerelease even more. There’s lots of great unreleased music, plus the score is in desperate need of a remix and remastering.
Let’s keep our fingers crossed for 2009.

ParticipantI wasn’t trying to imply that Elfman was stealing, Mr. Dantz. I was just curious if anyone noticed any other similarities among other pieces because I personally find them fascinating.
It lends an idea as to what might have inspired the composer, or what styles they identify with.

ParticipantI understand, I just wish he could have done it better (or given the circumstances, was allowed to do it better).

ParticipantWithout spoiling anything, my friend I saw it with last night said it best:
The movie didn’t feel like a movie. It felt like a checklist.
“We need this. Then this. Then this. Then this. The End.”
Now there are things on the checklist that are done very well.
Unfortunately, there are also a lot of things on the checklist that are NOT done well.
Sadly, the latter outweighs the former.
RE: the music – Almost a disappointment from start to finish. The main titles, while fair, did not nearly maintain the power in terms of orchestration and sound that Elfman’s did.
Once again, music from Spider-Man AND Spider-Man 2 was tracked into scenes.
Whenever the main theme was stated, it was always that same section from the main titles with the drums taken out and sped up. Couldn’t Young come up with other variations of the theme?
The whole thing sounded like a temp score.
More on the movie itself later…

ParticipantWhile I agree that the music for the Crane Sequence does reek of “temp track fever,” just hearing a new rendition of the theme like that in all its glory just pumped me up so much. I hope the rest of the score is good.

ParticipantWell, the last film came out in June and I believe the score was recorded in February. Recording will probably be starting soon.
