2. It Begins
3. Ultron Wakes
4. Ultron-Twins
5. Farmhouse
6. Can You Stop This Thing?
7. Inevitability/One Good Eye
8. Avengers Unite
9. The Farm
10. Nothing Lasts Forever
11. New Avengers – Avengers: Age of UltronSo much of Tyler’s music isn’t used in the movie (and a lot of it is rather anonymous imo) that I wouldn’t know how to put it in order.

ParticipantPossible, though he was recording music for Tulip Fever over a month ago at Abbey Road.

ParticipantI love Frankenweenie and like Big Eyes. But a quality genre movie is definitely what Burton needs. I think most people roll their eyes these days when Burton is attached to a fantasy movie. And hey, Jane Goldman hasn’t been attached to a bad movie yet.
I don’t think the score is going to be that big though? It’s fantastical but, at least in the book, there’s not much action and even that kind of amounts to a few chases. The sequel is far larger in scope.

ParticipantListening to Apollo 13 in his memory.

ParticipantDanny’s music isn’t even allowed to breathe during the quiet scenes in Terminator: Salvation. The ‘Fireside’ cue is barely audible and all he’s competing with there are two characters trying to be quiet and a fire.

ParticipantI’m a huge Clive Barker fan and a big fan of Cabal. The problem with the movie (which I love almost by default I guess) is that Barker really lacks the technical skills to match his imagination. Even Hellraiser is kind of let-down by this, it makes them easier to love in way? The director’s cut is kind of clumsily pieced together although no better job could likely have been done. Barker’s wonderful ideas still come through and I just love the Decker character, such a wonderful and creepy image with a performance to match.
I’ve always loved the score. But my love for it almost ruins watching the director’s cut because some of the music choices are just brutal. How many times is ‘Then Don’t Say It’ used in the movie? I’d guess it’s in the double figures.
If anything the DC just reminded me how much I want an expanded score release. The opening murders, the hotel murders, Boone getting hit by the truck, the shaved headed Nightbreed getting destroyed in the sun, the Decker/Boone confrontation on the bridge, the Shirley Walker beserker cue…. So much music I’d love to have.
Funnily enough it took me until now to realize that Cabal/Nightbreed is Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. They’re not just similar they’re beat-for-beat the same.

ParticipantThe music for the interview is so lovely, wish it were on the CD.
You can hear some of it at the start of the Elfman featurette.

ParticipantI think Elfman wrote the bulk of Tulip Fever after Fifty Shades (I read an interview with someone involved in the temp) but then moved onto Avengers and then Goosebumps before recording.
I’m super excited about this one, more than any other upcoming Elfman score. I don’t think he’s ever done anything like this before. I’ve always wanted him to do a Shakespeare movie but I guess this will do!

ParticipantSpider-Man was to me growing up what Batman was to most of you guys. The main titles to Spider-Man 2 are what made me fall in love with film music. Before I started buying CDs I recorded it onto my phone in crappy quality and listened to it on the way to school.
The first two movies are still terrific too, and the third is nowhere near as bad as it’s made out to be.
Raimi needs to direct another movie soon!

Can anyone make out Danny’s credit? Additional Music and Themes By?
Steve Bartek website shows that they definitely recorded music.

ParticipantYep, reviews are absolutely scathing.

ParticipantHas passed Alice to be Elfman’s highest grossing movie worldwide and will soon pass Spider-Man to be his highest grossing domestically. In terms of tickets sold Spider-Man will still come out on top though.

ParticipantIt’s probably around that time when Van Sant needs to make an Oscar bait movie again.
I was really looking forward to this, still going to check it out.

ParticipantThis is getting absolutely destroyed at Cannes, major booing after the screening apparently.

ParticipantAre ya’ll putting this in with your Elfman or Tyler CDs?

ParticipantHaving seen the movie a few times I have a few observations.
‘Heroes’ is a wild track, it doesn’t feature in the movie but it wasn’t written for a scene in mind.
Only the first section of ‘It Begins’ plays where it is supposed to – the opening Marvel logo and the Twins reveal (and hint at their theme). The rest of the scene it was written for, the long shot of the Avengers culminating in the money shot of the trailers, is replaced with ‘I Got a Ride’ from Silvestri’s score. Some of this track is used later during the Seoul chase, notably when Black Widow drives under the truck.
The ‘Ultron’ section from ‘Ultron-Twins’ seems to be omitted entirely, this is the scene when Ultron first meets the Twins and features music by Tyler. When Quicksilver tells the story of the bombing the music changes to Elfman.
‘Can You Stop This Thing’ plays when the Twins stop the train, it plays in its entirety.
‘Farmhouse’ is pretty self-explanatry, pretty sure this plays in full. The only Bruce/Natasha scene which doesn’t feature Tyler’s music and Elfman doesn’t use his theme.
‘Inevitability/One Good Eye’ – the first section of this cue plays when Tony and Bruce start to reconfigure Vision. The section from 1:41 onwards, when Scarlet Witch becomes an Avenger, is probably the most prominantly mixed moment in the movie. The rest of the cue doesn’t feature in the movie at all, but the title rings no bells so I’m wondering if that scene was cut?
‘Ultron Wakes’ – I don’t think this features in the movie at all. It’s clear what scene it is meant to accompany but that scene has music from Tyler.
‘The Farm’ plays in full, prominantly mixed.
‘Avengers Unite’ is the big musical moment of the score and is mixed well considering how much is happening on screen, I think the last few seconds are cut in the movie.
‘Nothing Lasts Forever’ plays in full.
The ‘New Avengers’ section is completely cut and replaced with ‘A Promise’ from Silvestri’s score. ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ plays through the end title sequence. So it’s all kind of a mess. Elfman was clearly asked to write around the Twins (more so Scarlet Witch), the quieter farm sequences and the Avengers themselves. All of these are major moments in the movie so I’ve no doubt Elfman replaced Tyler’s music no matter how much people scream about schedule conflicts. I mean why would Tyler not score the big Avengers scenes?
The unreleased cue when they fly off towards Seoul from the farmhouse struck me as Elfman.

ParticipantI loved Goosebumps as a kid, books and show. Can’t imagine this being very good but it’s always cool when Danny’s attached to something I have a connection to.

ParticipantIn very unsuprising news, the author of the book says that Danny is scoring at the end of this interview.
